The Council met in Regular session in the Council Chambers of the City Hall,
on the above date. The meeting was calledto order at ? o'clock P.Mo, Present:
Councilmen Riesland, Kidder, Dyson, Nashold. Absent: Mayor Koestero
Upon motion by Counc~lm~n Dyson, seconded by Councilm~u Nashold, which carried,
Councilman Rieslaud was ~ppoin~ed M~yor pro-tern.
Minutes _~f the Regular meeting held DecemBer 10, 19A~, ~ud Adjourned Regular
meeting held December l?, 1946, having bean prepered and mailed to each member of
the council, were approved as prepered and m~iled.
Minutes of the Planning Commission held January 6, 1947, having beem mailed to
each member of the Council, were accepted.

l~solution No.~8 having been ~esented, read ~n~ passed at the Adjourned
Regular meeting held December lq, 1946, and having beem omitted from the minutes
through error, are hereby recorded. Councilman Riesland offered l~solution No.??8.
The Resolution was read in full ~=~ !~as passed, adopted and approved by the
following vote, to-wit: D~s: Councilmen Riesla~d, Ksester, Nashold, Dyson,
Kidder° Noes: None. Absent: None.
EESOLUTION N0o781~: DIRECTING I~YBLICATION OF NOTICE TO CON~W?~T0!~ l~OR B~Vr~:
Councilman Dyson offered Resolution No.?81. The l~solution was read. in full and
was passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes:
Councilmen Dyson, Kidder, Riesland, Nashold. Ness: None. Absent: Councilman
Koestero
REQUEST FOR ZONE VARIANCE: The ma~ter of Zone Variance on a Lot on National
Avenue, by Mr. Maurioe Hooper, which he requested be changed to allow the oonstructiom
of a Woodworking Mill, was again discussed, smd on motion by Oouncilma~ Nashold,
seconded by Counci~,~ Kidder, which cerried, the second request was denied°
0_RDINANCE N0o~?~: ESTABL~H~2~G ~.,~ FC~ ~LS: On motion by Councllm~ Dyson,
seconded by Councilm~n Kidder, which carried, 0rdin~uce No.3~ was placed on its
first remding.
qITY XX~MP: MroLinthicum, lessee of the City Dump, complained of p~ople dumping
garbage at thecity dump amd ~ted corrective measures to prevent this.
City Attorney Higgs advised that ~oLOVe should confer with Mr.Zuckweiler and m-We
hi s reco~ndations.
LETTER OF PROTE~T: The City Clark read a letter from Reverend Wirt of the Community
Church, stating their objections to the library grounds oeing used for the bull~t~g
of a Civic Center, including a Jail. The letter waS ordered filed.
S~Lw. OF 0-~,,, 0E~i~ SI~E: The Chula Vista ~evelopment Company having offered to
purchase the Civic Center Site, discusalom followed ~s to the advisability of
keeping or selling this ls~d. Upon motion by 0ounc~l~,~ Nashold, seconded by
Councilman Rieslemd, which carried, by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes:
Councilmen Nashold, Dyson, Kidder, Rieslamd. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman
Koester, the city clerk was authorized to notify the Chula Vista Developmemt
Company that the council did not wish to sello
i~JHOH~ OF SCHOOL PROPERTY: Upon motion by Oouncilm~ Kidder, seconded by
Councilman Dyson, which carried, the city clerk was instructed to confer with the
Gr~mm~ School Board for the purchase of that portion of Lot 17, in Q~artersection
157, owned by the School Board, smd report back to the council.
F~ESTA C0~.W'l'i'.~m ~mI'ING: Mayor pro-tern Rieslahd appointed ~r.Ralph Dyson, and
b/to Dudley Nashold as representatives of the Council to attend a meeting of the
Fiesta co~nittee, to be hey on Friday, Sanuary 17, 1947 at 7.30 p.m., in the
Recreation Building on Parkway°
ST~T LIGHTS: On motion by Councilman Nsshold, seconded by CouncilmR- Eddder,
which carried, city clerk was instructed to prepare a survey of existing street
lights, together with recommendations for additional lights, and present to the
council at their next meeting.
~d~PLICATION OF TELEPHONE CO~PANY: The Southern California Telephone Company
applied for pemission to lay multiple conduits on Third Avenue, and, on motion by
Council=-~ Rieslan~, seconded by Councilman Kidder, which carried, City Engineer
and Street Superintemient were anthorized to sign the application.
REOW~ATIGN BUILDING: On motion by Councilman Dyson, seconded by Oounci]m~ ~tdder,
which carried, Recreation Directc~ Simpson was authorized to have an enclosure made
for the S~ack Bar at a price not to exceed $?0.00.
PURCHASE OF TRUO~K LO~,~.: Mr. Lynn Love, requested the purchase of a Butler T~,ck
Loader, after explaining the work it could perfo~, mad the saving of rotan-power.
City Clerk wes instructed to report at the next meeting, whether or not finances
were available for the above purchase.
B]W~v~ PAID: After examination by the entire council present, Rr~ approval by the
Finance Oa~w. tttee, Warrants Nos.57~-6 to 5~95 inclusive, were ordered paid by the
following vote, to-wit: A~es: Oouncilmen Dysc~, Kidder, Rieslsmd, Nasholdo
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Koester.
~DY0UR2~MT: On motion by Councilman Nashold, seconded by Councilman Dyson,
wkich carried, the meeting was adjourned to Yanuary 20, 1947 at 7 P.M.,
