SUBJECT: Support for Brookfield Properties Chula Vista Center Mixed Use Project
Dear Chair Zaker and Members of the Planning Commission,
I am a representative of
As a current business tenant at the Chula Vista Center (CVC), I support approval for the
Brookfield Properties mixed-use housing project.
Brookfield Properties’ proposal to demolish the old, unused Sears building and re-energize the
area with 244 for-sale townhomes is a very practical use of the space. The townhomes will help
address our housing crisis by providing reasonably priced homeownership opportunities in west
Chula Vista. At the same time, the project will vitalize the area by creating a built-in community,
naturally driving more visitors to the businesses at the CVC. Future residents will be only a few
steps away from services, shopping, dining and entertainment - which is a win-win situation for
both CVC residents and business tenants.
This project helps to make the vision of Chula Vista as a vibrant live/work/play City a reality. For
these reasons and more, I urge you to approve the Brookfield Properties Chula Vista Center
Project.
