HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1946/10/08m L~Yi~ OF REG~LAR I~.ETING OF TH~ CITY COUNCIL OF TP~ CITY OF CHULA VISTA, IE THE CITY OF ~XTOLA VISTA, CALIFOR3YIA, oCTOBER 8, 1946 The council met in reguler session in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, on the above date, with Mayor Koester presiding. The meeting was called to order at 7 o'clock P.M~, Present: Councilmen Koester, Nashold, ~ Kidder, Riesl~nd. Absent: ~ouncilman Dysono Minutes of the regular meeting held September lC, 19A$, havLug been prepared and mailed to each member of the Council, were approved as prepared and mailed. Upon motion by Councilman Riesls~d, seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carried, minutes of the Planning Commission meeting held October 7, 19A8, were approved as prepared and mailed. %~i'~ ~JJ'I~i0RITY: ~ letter frem M~.Bu~holder, engineer of the San Diego Water A~t~it~y, was read, in which he requested a letter from the City of Caula Vista, to aid in their application for relief i~ the matter of co~mmitments made for the installation of a pipe line from San Y~ld~o to Sen Diego. Upon motion by Oouncllman Riesland, seconded by Ceuncilman Nashold, v~hich carried, the clerk and city attorney were instructed to answer the letter. ~ ENG~qE PURCHASE: The contract for the purchase of a new fire engine was submitted by ~roPLlrsch, and the matter was referred to the city attorney for checking and advice. SOH00L BUILDING PRIORITY: Councilman Nashold asked that the city council send a telegram to Washington to aid in the procurement of priorities to finish the school building now being built in Bonita. Upon motion by Oouncllm~ Kidder, seconded by Counctlm~n Riesland, which carried, the clerk was authorized to send the wire° ORDINANCE N0.367 o EEGULATING TAXI CAB~ IN ~ CITY OF (2IULA VISTA: On motion by Councilm-~ Nashold, seconded by Councilman Koester, which carried, Ordinance No.367 was placed on its second reading. After the ~eading of the heading ~ in full, on motion by Oouncilm~n Riesland, seconded by Councilm~n Nashold, which carried, the reading of the text was waived. At this time Mr°Thomas appeared to object to the rates as set forth in the Ordinance, ~r~ to the necessity for installing partitions. After some discussion the matter was tabled for future action° Councilman Kidder retired at this time owing to a previous enga~manto REQUEST FOR TAXI STAND: k~r. Thomas requested permission for one taxi stand on Third Avenue next to the C enter Street bus stop° On ~otion by Co~u:.ci~'~ l~iesland, seconded by Councilman Nashold, which carried~ the request w~s gr~ntedo REQUF~T FOR CARD PO~ LICEN~: Mr. ~illiam T.Bailey requested license to operate c~rd room at 30~ Center Street, but under the existing Ordinance this request could not be granted. City Attorney reporting thet the present Ordinance prevents ~ transfer, lfmoTompkins asked that the Ordinance be ~mended to ~llow transfer to acceptable persons° ORDINANCE N0o3695 AMENDING CARD ROC~ 0RDINANC~ TO ALLOW TRANS--: Oouncilm~ Riesland offered Ordinance No.369, which waS placed on its first reading.
