OF TI~E CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, I~kN.D November 26, 1946
The City Council met in the Council Chambers of the City Hall
on the above date, with ~Iayor Koester presiding. The meeting was
called to order at 7:15 o'clock Po~. Present: Councilmen
Koester, Rieslend, Dyson, Kidder and Nashold. In the absence of
Herbert V. Bryant, City Clerk, Albert C. Boyer, Assistant City
Attorney acted as clerk of the Council.
UoS.0. PIANO On motion of Councilman Kidder, seconded by
Councilman Riesland the request of H. D. Simpson, Recreation ~
Director, for authority to exchange the present U.So0 Piano for
one owned by ~. J. Norbovig and payment of $75.00 in addition was
granted.
REQUEST BY TAV~RES CONSTRUCTION COD~PAh~ FOR 500 Y~RDS OF D. Go
On motion of Councilman Dyson, seconded by Councilman Nashold
which carried, Tavares Construction Company and Ho H. Johnson were
granted permission to take 500 yards of D. G. from the city pit
for the sub-surface of the streets at Roberta Park Sub-division at
the se~li~g price of fifty cents ($.50) per yard.
P~G RIETER 0RD~iANCE: On motion of Councilman Riesland,
seconded by Councilman Dyson, which carried, Ordinance No. 370,
relating to traffic regulation by the installation of parking meters
was placed on its first reading and duly read in full to the
council.
The Council unanimously invited all interested residents to
appear at the next regular meeting to state their views on this
proposed Ordinance and the proposed sales tax ordinance.
Councilman Kidder B~e~e is opposition to the Ordinance.
~r Carmen Baker from the audience questioned the value of the
proposed ordinance as a method of ~proving traffic congestion.
~S~1~ TAX ORD~&NCE: On motion of Councilman Koester, seconded
by Councilman Nashold, which carried, Ordinance Mo. 371, relating
to a city sales tax of one-half of one percent on retail sales was
placed on its first reading and duly read in full to the council.
CREST PUBLIC ~JI~ILiTY DISTRICT TE..~0RART ~ATER ~PROPRIATION:
On motion of Councilman I~dder, seconded by Councilman Dyson,
which carried, the ~Iayor and the City Attorney were instructed to
attend a proposed meeting and join in the consent with National
City and the Water Company to the tmnporary appropria$ion of water
located in the S~eetwater Valley, until the Crest Public Utility
District Joined the La ~esa-Lamon Grove System.
P~qNING C0~E~ISSION: On motion of Councilman Dyson, seconded
by Councilman Nashold, which carried unanimously, the removal by
~~~ster of al% members of the Planning Commission was approved.
' NI~IATURE A~T0 RAC~.~G I~AC~. The City Attorney reported that
no contract had as yet been entered into between the City and the
Miniature Auto Racing Asiociation for the reason that it was
an unincorporated body and the officers refused to be
personally responsible for the terms of the proposed contract.
Further negotiations are pendtug.
