The City Council met in the Council Chambers of the City Hall on the above
dat%with the following members present: Councilmen Koester, Nashold, Dyson, Kidder~
Rieslando Absent: None.
ORDINANCE N0o379: Oi~INM'~CE CALLLNG SPECIAL kLECTION: On motion by
Councilman Riceland, seconded by Comncilman Nashold, which carried~ Ordinance Noo ~
~79 was placed on itz second reading° The Ordinance was passed~ adopted and
approved by the following vot% to-wit: Ayes: Councilmen Riesland, Koeste~,
Nashold, Dyson, Kidder. Noes: None° Absent: None.
RESOLUTION NO,811: APPROVING CONT~IACT DOCU~NTS FOR NEW FIRE STATION:

Co~cil~mn Koest~r offered Resolution No.812o The Resolution was passed, adopted
and approved by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes; ComuciLmen Koester, Nashold,
Dyson, Kidder, Rieslando Noes. None. Absent: l~one.
1947-1948 BUDGET: City Administrator Bryant having presented to the Council at a
previous meeting for their consideration a tentative budget for the year 1947-1948,
and the Council having reviewed same and made several changes, it was moved by
Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman Dyson, and unan~nously carried, that
there being no mandatory budgetry requirements or procedure set forth bylaw fc~
the operation of a city of the 6th clas% said council declares that the respective
sums set forth for the purpose enumerated, are not to be considered as appropriations
or allocations of money and that the figures herein contained are subject td change
at such times as the city council shall determine. A copy of the financial
guide is hereby attached hereto and made a part of these minutes°
ORDINANCE N0~380: SETTING TAX RATE FOR 1947-48: On motion by Councilman Kidder,
seconded by Councilman Koester, which carried, Ordinance Noo380 was placed on its
first reading.
O~DIM~!CE N0o381: AMenDING SALES TAX OkDINANCE: On motion by Councilman Kidder,
seconded by Cou~cilman Riceland, which carried, Ordinance No.381 was placed on i~s
first reading°
~ESOLUTION N0o813: INTENTION TO VACATE AL~: Cou~cilman Dyson offered Resolution
Noo813o The Resolution was read in full and was passed~ adopted and approved by
the following rot% to-wit: Ayes: Counci~nen Dyson~ Kidder, Riceland, Koester,
Nashold. Noes: None° Absent: None.
8EDINANCE N0o382: RELATING TO DISASTerS: On motion by Councilman Koester,
seconded by Councilman Riesland, which carried, Ordinance No~582 was placed on its
first reading°
ACCESTANCE OF ~£~2{ PU~ - H~OSA }~L~iOR: After discussion and upon the statement
of the City Engineer that the Sewer Pump in Hermosa Manor was built of standard
equipment and according to plans and specifications on file in the office of the
City Engineer, it was moved by Councilman Riceland, seconded hy Councilman Kidder,
and carried, that the Sewer Pump in Hermosa Y~nor be accepted~
~ POLIC~AN: Police Chief Lofthouse advised that he had hired Mr°Thomas Oliver
formerly of the Sheriff:s Department~ as a police officer, and wished the council
to confirm same° On motion by Cou~cilman Nashold, seconded by Councilman Kidder,
which carried, the appoini~ent was confirmed°
DECORATION OF CITY: Mr°Jack Palmer stated that an estimate for decorating the
city with bunting and streamers was approxi~tely ~310o00o After discussion
~pon motion by Councilman Riesland~ seconded by Councilman Kidder~ which carried,
City A~ministrator Bryant wwas authorized to have the decorations installed for
an &moun2 not to exceed ~310.O0, payment to be made out o£ the Promotion and
Advertising Fund°
P~RK BOWL STAG~: After discussion~ it was moved by Councilman Riesland~ seconded
by Councilman Nas~old, and carried~ that the project now planned and being installed
in the stage area of the park bowl~ be approved.
FII~ EXT/_NGUIS~r~I{ PI~CHASE: Administrator Bryant was authorized to purchase a
Du-Gas Fire Extinguisher £or use at the city garage°
CITY DUMP: The clerk read a letter £rom MroLinthicum requesting a longer lease
on the city dump~ and, stating that he ~ould instal a water pipe and fence at his
own e~qoense if a longer lease were granted~ It was moved by Councilman Koester,
seconded by Counci]~aan Nashold, and carried~ that the matter be referred to street
superintendent Love and the city attorney for stu~ and prepaz'ation of necessary
papers ~
R~T CON2~'~OL: The clerk read a letter from the C.I.Oo Council requesting the City
Council to pass rent control legislation immediately° The ~.etter was ordered tabled°
ADJOUi~/~IM~NT: On motion by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman Nashold,
which carried, the meeting was adjourned to August 5~ 19~7, at 7 o~clock PoM.,
