OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA. C~LIFORNIA. HELD TUESDAY AUGUST 5, 1947
The City Council met in the Council Chambers of the City Hal ] on the above
date, with the following members present: Councilmen Koester, Nashold, Kidder,
Rieslando Absent: Councilman Dysono
OPENING OF BIDS FOR FIRE STATION: The clerk proceeded to open bids for the
construction of a new fire station, and the results were as follows:-

Each and every bid contained the necessary requirements and were accompanied
by the necessary bond or certified check.
Upon m~tion by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Naahold, and carried,
the bids were referred to the City Attorney for investigation, and, if the bid
of FoEoYoung, which was the lowest offer, was found to be in order, the City Attorney
was to prepare the necessary papers for the awarding of the contract at the next
meeting.
PUGET PACIFIC PLANES INCo Mr. Lee Kusic, MroFitzhugh, Mr°Bennett and MroUnderhill,
appeared before council to request that a letter of intent to lease a portion of
our tidelands from the City Council to the Puget Pacific Planes Inc., be drafted,
to assist them in their negotiations with the Santa Fe Lands Inc., for a lease of
property on which to construct a runway. This property is located at the foot
of "J" Street°
It was moved by Councilman Koester, seconded by Councilm~n Nashold and carried, that
the City Attorney be instructed to dz~t such a letter of intent addressed to the
Puget Pacific Planes Inc.~ stating that the City of Chula Vista will lease the
real property as shown on the map presented on such terms as are agreeable to all
and upon t~e condition that the Puget Pacific Planes Inco, secure from the Santa
Fe Lands Company, a satisfactory lease to property owned by the Santa Fe Lands
Company, and adjacent to that land hereinbefore described. Councilman Riesland
retired at this time°

ORDINANC N0.381: Oi'OINANCE~ING SALES TAX ORDINANCE:N0.3?i: It was
moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman Nashold, and carried, that
Ordinance No.381 be placed on its second reading. After reading of the title
it was moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman Koester, and carried,
that the reading of the text be waived. The Ordinance was in its exact form
as when placed on its first reading July 15, 1947, and was passed, adopted and
approved by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes: Councilmen Kidder, Koester, Nashold.
Noes: None° Absent: Councilmen Dyson, Riesland.
RESIGNATION OF RECREATIONAL D/RECTOR: The clerk read the resignation of Mr. HoDo
Simpson as Recreational Director, and, on motion by Councilman Koester, seconded
by Councilman Nashold, and carried, the resignation was accepted effective
October l, 1927o
PAYMENT OF WARRANT It was moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman
Nashold, and carried, that Warrant NOo6283 ~e paid.
AUTHORITY TO LEAVE STATE: On motion by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Cotu~cilman
Koester, and carried, permission to leave the State was granted as follows:-
To Councilman Riesland from August 16 to September 1~;1947
To City Attorney Higgs from August 16, to September 14, 19~7
To Councilman Nashold from August 10, to August 17, 1947.
To Administrator Bryant, from August 30, to September 30, 19&7.
LEAGUE CONVENTION: On motion by Co~cilman Nashold, seconded by Councilman Kidder,
which carried, the following were authorized to attend the League of California
Cities Convention in San Francisco September 22, to September 26, 1947, at the
expense of the City of Chula Vista. Mayor Koester, Administrator Bryant,
and City Attorney HiggSo
ADJOURNMENT: On motion by Councilman Nashold, seconded by Councilman Kidder, which
carried the meeting was adjourned sine die.
