OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIfOrNIA, H4LD ~ONDAY,
JANUARY 19, 1948
The City Council met in the Council Chambers of the City Hall on the above
date, with the following members present: Councilmen Koester, Dyson, Kidder,
Rieslando Absent: Councilman Nashold.
B~J~ PAID: After examination by the entire council Warrants Nos.$~$ t~ #6828,
were ordered paid by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes: Councilmen Riesland,
Koester,Dyson, Kidder. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Nashold.
CITY ~iG~: Mr.Harry C.$el%e~ppeared before council for interview, and was
promised a decision would be made and given him on January 27, 19~8.
ORDINANCE NO.t6~: ~ motion by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman
Koester, which carried, Ordinance No.357 being in revised form, was placed on
its first reading.
CITY HALL: On motion by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Counci~m~an Dyson, which
carried, ~ir.Burnham was authorized to proceed with the drafting of preliminary
plans for a new city hall on an hourly basis of $2.50 per hour, with an estimated
overall time of four (&) days.
PLANNING CO~L~ISSION APPOIN~.~LNTS: Mayor Koester reappointed Mr.Welton and ~rs.
Guest to the Planning Commission, and it was moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded
by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that the reappointments be confirmed and that
their term of office comply with the provisions of the Ordinance governing same.
POLICE CAR EXCHanGE: On motion by Councilman Dyson, seconded by Councilman
Riesland, ~uich carried, the administrator was authorized to purchase a new
Chevrolet Police car and trade in a 1946 Chevrolet on same for a difference in cost
of $200~00 plus tax.
F~E HALL ~'UPJiISHINGS: City Administrator Bryant was authorized to proceed with the
purchase of furnishings for the new Fire Ha].l as requested by Chief Lee at a cost
not to exceed $1300~00.
~W FIHE PLUG: Chief Lee, requested permission to have installed a fire plug at
the corner of Fig Avenue and "F" Street. The request was granted upon motion
by Councilman Kidder, seconded by CouncilmAn Koester, which carried.
C~L~IT DRIVE: It was moved by C~uncilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Dyson,
and carried, that the administrator have installed a cement driveway in front~
of the new Fire Station at the bid price of $520.00.
BUS LOADING ZONE: Police Chief Lofthouse and Street Superintendent Love recommended
that a bus zone be established just south of Davidson on Third Avenue, and that
two parking meters be removed and the curbs painted red. It was moved by ~
Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councid~aan Koester, and carried, that the loading
zone be thus established.
P~CR~ATION HALL: Administrator Bryant reported he had a price of approximately
$27.00 for cleaning drapes in the Recreation Building and a price of approximately
$38~O0 for repairing Venetian Blinds. It was moved by Councilman Kidder,
seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that this work be authorized.
~DJOUF~NM~.1~T: It was moved by Councilman Dyson, seconded by Councilman Koester,
and carried, that the me~et~ing be adjourned to January 27, 1958 at 7 o'clock
