OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA. CALIFOi~IA. ~.~.~ TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 1948
The Council met in the Council Chambers of the City Hall on the above date,
at 7 o'clock P.M., with the following members present: Councilmen Koester,
KiGder, Riesland, ~asholdo Absent: Councilman Dyaono
GASOLI~QE CONTACT: After dimcumsion, it was moved by Councilm~n Kiader, and
seconded by Councilmm~ Nazhold, and carried, that contract for ~upplying
gasoline from }L~rch l, 1948 to February 28, 1949 be given to the Richfield Oil
Corporation, their bid being Tank Truck price less one cent (15) per gallon.

and one council table at the beet obtainable price°
HnOOLUTION N0.860: Gounc~lmau Nashold offered Resolution No.860. This is a
Resolution authorizing call for bids for construction of Sewer Treatment Plant
and Outfall Sewer. The Resolution was read in full and was passed, adopted
and approved by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes: Councilmen Na~hold, Kidder,
Hiesland, KoesteWo Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Dyson.
~OLUTION N0o861: Councilman Koester offered Resolution No.861. This ~s a
Resolution authorizing call for bids for the construction of Trunk Sewers.
The Resolution was passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit:
Ayes: Councilman Koester, Na~hold, Kidder, Riesland. Noes: None. absent:
CounciLman Dyson.
T~TaTIVS ~P - ~I{EY T~CE: ~. Robert Griffin presented a tentative~p
of E1 Rey Terrace, and, on motion by CoUz~c~2aman Kidder, seconded by Councilman
Nashold, ~ich carried~ the tentative map was a~proved, subject to improvements
as required by Section 7 of the Subdivision Ordinance of the City of Chula Vista~
and aa shown on tentative map.
~aL~ OF OLD FL~ ~GIN~: On motion by Councilman Nashold, seconded by Councilman
Riesland, and carried, ~dministrator was authorized to accept the bid of the
Fenton ~terial Company in the ~aount of ~j615oOO for the old Seagrave Fire Engine.
H~S~LUTiON ~Oo86S: Councilman kidder offered ~esolution No.862. This is a
~esolution authorizing the i~ayor and City Clerk to execute a contract with the
California ~Jater & Telephone Company. The ~e~olution wa~ read in full and was ~
passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: ~yes: Councilmen
~i~er,Riesland, Koester, Nashold. Noes: ~one. ~bsent: Councilmau Dysono
SOl,DInG aTTORNeYS: The Clerk read a letter from lQr.Beebe of the firm of O~elveny
and l~yers~ in which they ~tated t~at,because of the increase in our bond iswue
from $125,00OOOO to $194,0OO.00, their fee for handling the matter would be
increased from ,375o00 to ~500.00. It was then moved by Councilman Rie~lahd,
seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carried, that this arrangement be authorized. ~
Administrator Bryant suggested that it might be well for ~.Boyer and hi~aself
to proceed to Los angele~ at an early date to start negotiations for the ~ale of
the Sewer Bonds, inasmuch as it will be necessary to sell the bonds before awarding
the contracts for construction. It was moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded by
Councilman Nashold, and carried, that kr.Bryant and~r.Boyer be so authorized.
~OLUTiON N0.863: Councilman Koester offered Resolution ~o.863o This is a
Resolution ~uthorizing the employment of ~. Stephen ~obinson and ~.Loui$ H.Burke,~
as consulting attorney in water matters. The Re~olution was read in full and
w as passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: ayes:
Councilmen Koester, Nashold, Ki~der, Riesland. Noes: None. Absent: ~ouncilman
CO~RT CL~K: Administrator Bryant told the council that Judge Campbell had
requested authority to imire MrmoEVa Bogan as court clerk to fill the vacancy expected
by the resignation of Mrs°Betty T~yloro ~.Bryant stated that the reason Judge
Campbell wished to hire ~s.Bogan was due to the fact of her previous e~erience
and that she was thoroughly familiar with his ways. He further stated that he had
no objection to the hiring of ~s.Bogan if council so desired. After some dis-
cussion it was moved by Councilman Riesland, meconded by Councilman Kidder~ and
carried, that no personnel be hired until the status of Civil Service was
determined at the forthcoming election, except in an extreme emergency, this
only with the approval of the council.
CURB ~D GUTT~i - FiE Avenue. It was moved by Councilm~ Naeheld~ seconded
by Couucilman Rieslaud~ and carried, that ~r.Glenn Gilbert be authorized to
proceed with the installation of appro~imately 180 feet of curb and gutter
on Fig Avenue at a coat not to exceed $783.50. This incl~ea a concrete
swale to be constructed on "F" Street to connect up with the present pavement.
OP~II~G U?~O.F "C" S'i~tgET: The clerk read a communication from the County of
San Diego, mu ~hich they requested permission from the City to improve a portion
of "C" Street which is located in the city and part in the county. It was
moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carrie~,
that permission be granted.
APPLICATION FOR P~H~$SIOE TO EXCAVATE: The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph
Company asked for permission to excavate and instal an underground conduit
43½ feet long at the corner of "E" Street and Third Avenue. It was moved
by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carried, that
permission be granted.
