to the City of Chula Vista. Upon motion by Cl. Boltz, seconded by Cl. ~, the resolut-

was some doubt as to the v~idity of ~ny actions taken by a Co.cji co~osed of only
four m~bers when there was supposed to be five on the Co~cil ~nd t~erefore c~utioned
tlc Co~cil to not t~uns~ct any business of vita~ i~o~tance.

~ ~.~cr~ e~ reported that the legislature h~d p~ssed
~ law allowing City Co~ts to ~.di~ ~ll claims ~d as the duties of Judge C~pbell
~re being increased by the incre~sed violations it would be necessa~ to allow the
Judge stenographic ~ssist~ce at frequent inter. Is. Upon ~otion by Cl. ~lowe, seconded
by Cl. Boltz, which carried, the ~rchas~g Y~ent was iustE~cted t c provide stenographic
help for the Judge whe~ever necessary.
~e City Lttorney reoorted that the ~ttoon settle~nt was
going t~ough the necesse~~ p~ced~s ~nd within ~ s~ort time he would have ready
for t~esentation to the Co~cil ~ proposition for their ~pprov~.
~e Zoning ~en~ing method ~s ~eviewed by the City ~tto~ey
in which was pointed out tl~e necessary ~ethod of proced~re of ~mending Zones and which
pro6edure had not been followed in the Dast~ H~ ~dvised that the P~t ~en~ents ~d
~y ~ticipated ~en~ts be taken care of ~it!~ one ~endment to be passed in the near
~ne City ~Lttorney reported that the status of the pier at
the end of F street ~s not quite clear ~d that records were se~ched ~d did not
disclose the exact status of s~. i~e felt that tDe City should hesitate to have the
pier demolished until it could be ascertained just ~'d~at the status ~s. The City
~gineer reported that he was trying to contact the o~er of the acre of l~d on which
the pier abuttes ~nd ~'~hen he had b~n contacted he ~ght be able determine if the pier
was still ~der lease to the o~er of s~id acre.
ST~ R0~.~w~: ~e City ~gineer info.ed the Co~cll that he had ~n oppertunity
to p~chase a second h~d street roller from a conce~ in Glendale for the s~.~ of ~00~00
~d as the City would be needing a roller when the shoulders are to be oiled he felt it
~dvisable to investigate the one at Glendale. Upon motion by Cl. Boltz, seconded by Cl~
~o~, which carried, the City ~gineer ~s instructed to go to Glendale to investigate
the said roller.
CL. H0~E STP~T C0~i~SSI0~R: I~hyor Broum brought to the att~tion of the Co~cil
the fact that the City is ~thout a Street Co~ssi~ner ~d that Cl. Ho~, being f~liar
with the duties, should he~ve the appointment~ b~on motion by Cl. Boltz, seconded by Pl.
Bro~, which carried, the l~yor appointed Cl. Howe Stoat Co~ssioner~
~ ~ S~E~: The City ~gineer requested ~75.00 be appropiated for use
i~ ch~ging the c~b ~d sidewa~ on 3rd av~ue South of E street so that the curb~ne
would confo~ th the pl~. Cl. Howe inquired if the p~sent side~ if left whe~ it is
~d ch~ging the cur~ line to it would it not conf~m to the pl~; the City ~ineer
stated that ~ere v~uld be about a t~ee foot jog and that the p~sent si~e~ is j~st
a iittle to hi~. Upon motion by Cl. Boltz, seconded by Cl. ~we, which carried, the
appropiation of $475.00 was approved for said ~rk.
5~ ~ET~TION: Upon motion by Cl. Boltz, seconded by Cl. Howe, ~ich carried, the
City Clerk ~s inst~cted to urge ~s~bl~ St~ to oppose the 5% Li~tatlon b~ll
now before the Assembly~
