THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
Held Tuesday- September 13, 1949
The Council met in the Council C~amhars of the City Hall on the above date at
?:00 o'clock p. M. with the following members present. Councilmen Koester, Riesland,
Nashold, Kidder. Absent - Council-~ Dyson.
It was moved by Councilman Nashold, seconded by Council~u Rlesland, and carried,
that the at-utes of meetings held August 9th, 18th, 23rd and 30th be approved.
It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Nashold, and carried,
that the minutes of the Planning C~,,.,tssion meeting held September 12th be approved.
CIVIC CE~I'F~ PLANS
~ Mr. Percy Burnham presented the proposed Civic Center plans to the Council and
explained in ~etail the floor plan and plot plan. After discussion, it was moved
Counc~lma~ Riesland, seconded by Councilm~n Nashold, and carried that the plans and
location of the proposed City Hall be approved by the following vote to-wit:
AYES: Counc~ lm~n Rio sland, Nashold, Koester.
NOES: Counci ]~-n Kidder.
ABSENT: Council~-~ Dyson.
RECORD OF SUEyEx
City Engineer, Henry S. Gierlich, presented a record of survey for 8 lots between
Second Avenue and Twin Oaks and Cypress Street and "F" Street. Property owners on the
West side of T~in Oaks Avenue requested that the sewer be run down Twin Oaks instead
of along the back of the proposed $ lots. It was the Council's recomm~ndation that the
plans be reconsidered end presented to the Council at their next meeting.
CHULA VISTA HYGH SCHOOL SEWER
Mr. Y. M. McDonald, District Superintendent, appeared before the Council to pre-
sent the need for a means of connecting the new High School Project to the sewer sys-
tem of the City of Chula Vista. Due to the contour of the land adjacent to the school,
it is necesse_ry to install approximately 5,900 feet of main to connect with the "$"
Street extrusion now being installed by the City. Mr. McDonald asked if the City would
ass~e the' responsibility for installing the main on "Y" Street from a point mid-way
between 5th Avenue and National Avenue to the existing line on "Y" Street provided the
school would construct the line without cost to the City from the present school site
West to 5th Avenue on "K" Street, North on 5th Avenue to .Y" Street end West on "Y"
Street to a point mid-way between 5th Avenue and National Avenue.
After discussion, it was moved by Councilm~u Rieslaud, seconded by Council~n
Nashold, end unanimously carried, that ~r. McDonald's request as above stated be granted
and that the City of Chula Vista assume the responsibility for the installation of the
sewer main fr~n Station ll to the existing line as shown on that certain sewer construc-
tion map drawn April 1949, by the City of Chula Vista.
The City Engineer was instructed to prepare plans for this connecting line for
presentation to the Council and call for bids at the earliest possible time.
SALE OF CITY PR0~ERTY
Mr. E. J. Thomas appeared before the Council to request an easement across a lot
owned by the City at the Northeast corner of the City for the purpose of running a
water pipe across the property to his own. After discussion, it was moved by Cc~ncil-
man Riesland, seconded by Councilm.~ Nashold, and carried, that the City have the pro-
perty appraised and offer it for sale to Mr. Thomas at its appraised value.
T. A. FORBES
Mr. Forbes of 490 Parkway requested the City to investigate a sewer x~,nning in an
easement in the rear of his property which was settling, causing his garage to sink and
crack. The Council instructed M~. Gierlich to investigate the cause end advise what
should be done.
