VISTA, C~JLIFOP~A Held ~May 10, 1949 The Council met in the Council Chmmbers of the City !iall on the above date at 7:00 o'clock P. ~ , o ~4th the following members present: Cour~cilmen Koester, Riesland, Nashold, Dyson, Kidder. It was moved by Councilman Ries]a~d, seconded by Councilman Nashold, and carrte~, that the minutes of the previous meetings held April l2th, 19th, and 27th be approved° It was moved by Councilman ~ashold, seconded by Councilman Dyson, and car- ried ,that the minutes of the Planning Co~missio~ meeting held l*~sy 2nd be approved. ~ FIESTA ~Jrs. L~llian /ohnson appeared before the Council and requested perm_lesion to put a concrete slab in Eucalyptus Park for ~sncing during the Fiesta. She told the Council that if enoug~ money was made on these dmnces they vould like to have permission to put in tennis courts behind the Recreation Center. It was agreed that the Fiesta Co~m~ittee be allowed to lay such a slab leavin~~. the exact location of it to the decision of the City Engineer. Also the location for tennis courts was approved. POLICE DEPiaVd~ ~NT The City Clerk rea8 a letter from Police Chief ~. S. Taylor advising the Council that he ha5 suspended Sst. Ralph Orr for thirty days without pay as a 8isciptir~ery measure and asked that the Council co~/fi~ such action. Upon motion by CouncJ lman ~ashold, seconded by Councilman Rieslsnd, u,h~ ch carried, said sus- pension was verif~edo ~fr. Bryant read a letter of resignation fram Sst. Ralph Orr, effective ]/~ay 9, 1949. Upon motion by Councilman Ries]and, seconded by Councilman Kidder, which carried, the resignation of Sst. Palph Orr was accepted. BIDS FOR COI,JPLETI01? The calculator used in the City Engineer's Department belnE in need of repairs, motion was made by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman Riesland, ane carried, that the City authorize an amount not to exceed $50.00 for repairs oi same. W;~TK° C0~OA~ - Notice of Hearing. ?~ay 25th hes been set as the date for the hearing on rate increase by the California Water & TeLephone Company. City Attorney Boyer requested that the City Council instruct him as to what he should do. Upon motion by Council~n Riesland, seconded by Councilman Dyson, which carried, City Attorney Boyer was instructed to attend the meeting. The City Attorney requested permission to be absent for the following six Tuesday evenings to attend a course given in San Diego for attorneys. LETTERS Mr. Bryant reed a letter from the Pilgrim Evangelical Lutheran Church thank- ing the City for use or the Park Bowl for Easter Services. A letter from the P~oar5 of Recreation Co~Eissioners was rea~ regarding the use of the bus the Lions Club now owns, for youth org~.izatiOnSo ~,~r. Roy L. W,a~ond, ~anager of the Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of the mer- chants committee and the board of directors o~ the Chamber of Commerce, wrote a letter to the Council recommending that the traffic signal locatad at the cross walk between Davidson Street and "F" Street be moved to Davidson Street to be given a test trial. WtDENIMC OF "E" STREET City Engineer Foster infO~aed the Council that ~r. Buthel of the State Highway Departnent had asked if the widening of "E" Street, which is now in the 1951 street proposal could be i~cluded in the 1950 budget instead. After discussion, it was decided that this should be left in the 1951 budget as it is now.
