HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1950/11/21 REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Tuesday - November 21, 1950 The Council met in the Council Chambers of the City Hall on the above date with the following Councilmen present: Kidder, Logan, Hobel, DeWolfe, Riesland. Absent: None. Also Present: City Attorney Boyer, City Engineer Floyd and Asst. City Engineer V~eeler. CHAIRS FOR COUNCIL CH~EHS - Purchase of. It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that 120 chairs $ $15.74 each be purchased from the California Seating Company. AUDITING FIRM- Fiscal Year 1950-1951. The City Clerk read a letter from the firm of Kogle~ and Collura and ~r. Harold Franks representing Diehl & Company was present at the Council Meeting to present his bid. After discussion it was moved by Councilman Logan, seconded by Cduncilman Hobel, and carried, that the firm of Kogler & Collura be given the auditing job providing they will give quarterly audits for $50.00 per month. AYES: Councilmen Logan, Hobel, DeWolfe, Kidder, Riesland. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. SWIPING POOL - Conference with Recreation Commission regarding location. The Council discussed at length, the proposed location of a swimming pool on the high school grounds, as well as the possible location of the pool at the South West corner of G Street and Fourth Avenue. It was moved by Councilman DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carried, that the Recreation Commission give further considera- tion to the location and investigate the possible acquisition of the property at the corner of G Street and Fourth Avenue and present their proposal to the Planning Com- mission at their next meeting, a proposal of the Planning Commission and Recreation Commission to be presented at the next City Council Meeting. TRUCK ROUTE Mr. Nichols, 334 I Street requested that the Council cause the prohibition of the use of I Street from National Avenue to Third Avenue for a truck route to he-enforced. It was moved by Councilman DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Hobel, and carried, that the City Engineer, City Administrator and City Attorney prepare an Ordinance for the next Council meeting deleting Third Avenue between E and ~ Streets as a truck route. COUNTRY CLUB VILLA LOTS - Sale of. It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Hobel, and carried, that Lots ll, 12, 13, and 14 in Block A, Country Club Villas be advertised for sale. The terms to be 1/3 cash, the balance in 6 months at 5% interest, a minimum price to be determined by the Administrative Officer to be set for each lot. LOT 56 - ROSEBANK SUBDIVISION - Sale of lot. It was moved by Councilman DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that the bid of $800 from Lloyd Warren be accepted, the lot to be conveyed by quit-claim deed, the City conveying only its tax title. ~REsoLUTIO~t NO. 1188 - Electing to pay ~ of tax levy of the Metropolitan Water District. On motion of Councilman DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Riesland, Resolution No. 1188 was read in full, passed, adopted, and approved by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen DeWolfe, Logan, Hobel, Kidder, Riesland. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. ~J~OLUTION NO. 1189 - Resolution of Sympathy to Mr. Ed Davis. ~ Offered by Councilman DeWolfe, read in full, passed, adopted, and approved by the following vote, to-wit: AYF~: Councilmen DeWolfe, Logan, Hobel, Kidder, Riesland. NOMS: None. ABSENT: None. FREDERICKA HOME - Curb Location. It was moved by Councilman Logan, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that the City offer to pay 10% of the cost of sidewalks and curbs in front of Fredericka Home in exchange for a 3' strip to be dedicated to the City by Fredericka Home. AYES: Councilmen Logan, Hobel, Kidder, Riesland, DeWolfe. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. CORRESPONDENCE The City Administrator read a letter of appreciation from the South Bay Veterans Coordina~ing Council expressing their appreciation for the aid of the City and the work Mr. Norman, Park Superintendent, did in connection with the War Memorial in the City Park. DRAPES - Purchase of Draperies for Council Chambers and Mayor and City Administrator Offices. It was moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman Hiesland, and carried, that drapes be purchased for the Council Chambers and the ~ayor and City Administrator Offices. The colors to be as per samples presented to the Council. AYES: Councilmen Kidder, Riesland, DeWolfe, Logan, Hohel. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. ADJOURNMENT It was moved byCouncilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that the meeting adjourn sine-die.
