OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
Held Tuesday, December 12, 1950
The Council met in the Council Chambers of the City Hall on the above date at
7:00 o'clock FoM~ with the following Councilmen present: ~ddder, Riesland, Logan,
.DeWolfe, Hobel. Absent: None.
It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried,
that the minutes of the Council Meetings held November 14th and 21st be approved as
mailed~
It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried,
that the minutes of the Planning Commission Meetings held November 20 and December h
be approved as mailede
Mm. Bernard McCollum spoke to the Council and expressed thanks for the faith
placed in his ability as Chief of Policeo
Mr. Robert Holmes appeared before the Council and requested that two more
shuffleboard courts be added to the present courts. It was moved by Councilman
Logan, seconded by Councilman Hobel, and carried, that the matter be referred to
the Recreation Committee for report back before taking any action.
ENPLOYEF~' SALARY INCREASE
The City Clerk read the recommendations of the Civil Service Commission that
the salaries of all employees in the classified service be increased by 10% and
$10. OO per month. It was moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman DeWolfe,
and carried, that all employee~s~assifled~ z~ i servmce,' . as well as the City Adminis-
trator and Finance Officer,~in~J~claesified Servmce, be granted a $30.00 per
month cost of living increase, effective January 1, 1951.
COMMUNITY BUILDING
The City Clerk readletters fromM rs. Theodosia Thode and Mrs. Rosamoir
Kite, addressed to Mro Laurence Kuebler, requesting that some action be taken by
the City Council to have the Community Building used as a recreation center for
school studentse After discussion, entered into by Mr. Jack Palmer, Mr. Walter
Davis, Mr. Robert Griffin and Mr. Laurence Kuebler, it was moved by Councilman
DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that the School Department
be asked for recommendations on the use of the Community Building, and that the
City Administrator send letters to different Civic organizations asking for their
recommendations on the use of the Community Buildinge
DISASTER RELIEF
The City Clerk read a letter from the California Civilian Defense, together
with the following proposed list of Advisory Committee members:

It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Logan, and
carried, that the names be approved. AYES - all.
SUBDIVISION - Bay Vista #2, Final }.~p.
It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Logan, and
carried, that the final map be approved as presented by Henry Algert.
ESOLUTION NO. 1190 Authorizing signing of agreement for Retirement Survey
Offered by Councilman DeWolfe, read in full, passed, adopted, and approved
by the following vote, to-wit:

It was moved by Councilman Kidder that Truck Ordinance be placed on first
reading. The Ordinance was thereupon read in full.
CO~.~JNICATIONS
It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman DeWolfe, and
carried, that the City Attorney investigate further the sewer refund on the Car-
penter property as requested by Robert ~. Griffin.
The City Clerk read a letter from Nr. Edward D. Davis thanking the Council
for tbeir expression of sympathy.
It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman Kidder, and
carried, that the position of Captain of Police be added to Civil Service
Classification, as requested by ~. M. S. Taylor and recommended by the Civil
Service Commission.
RECO~,q,IENDATION OF CIASSIFICf~TiON - Civil Service Commission.
It was moved by CounciLman DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Logan, and
carried, that the recommendation of the Civil Service Commission amending
~le II of Civil Service Rules, Section 12, pertaining to classifications of
Engineering Aids, be adopted.
PAY BILLS
After examination by the entire Council and approval of the Finance Com-
mittee, it was moved by Councilman De~olfe, seconded by Councilman Logan, and
carried, that Warrants No. 2927 to No. 30h~, excepting Warrant No. 2986, be
approved for payment.

SALARY IJoRFASE City Attorney.
It was moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman DeWolfe, and
carried, that no action be taken on City Attorney A1 Boyer's request for salary
increase until further information is submitted.
It was moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman DeWolfe, and carried,
that City Attorney A1 Boyer be permitted to leave the State of California from
December 20, 19~0 to January 3rd,
