HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1951/01/16MINUTES OF A RF, GULAR ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Tuesday, January 16th, 1951 The Council met in the Council Chambers of the City Hall on the above date at ?:00 o'clock P.M. with the following Councilmen present: Kidder, Riesland, Logan, DeWolfe, Hobel. Absent; None. Also Present: City Attorney Boyer, City Engineer Floyd, Asst. Engineer Wheeler. ,~City Maps Mr. Walter Davis, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Council to request that 3,000 more maps of the City of Chula Vista be printed in photo-offset. It was moved by Councilman DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Riesland, that 4,000 more maps be ordered at relatively the same price per thousand as the first maps printed, and carried by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Kidder, Riesland, Hobel, DeWolfe, Logan. NO~S: None. ABSENT: None. Resignation of Planning Commission Chairman Mr. William Eckhart having tendered his resignation as member of the Planning Commission, it was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried, +hat the resignation be accepted with regret. Upon Councilman Riesland'$ recommendation, it was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Hobel, and carried, that by. Kyle Stewart be appointed to fill the vacancy on the Planning Com~ission. ~8ivilian Defense It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman DeWolfe, and carried, that the City Administrator and M~. Jack Palmer meet and discuss organization plans, and also that the City Administrator discuss the salary for a part-time Defense head~ and bring his findings before the Council. At this point, ~:45 P.M., Councilmam Hobel left the meeting. %'Report on Parking Facilities on Third Avenue. It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried, that the map of Third Avenue from E Street to G Street and including all intersecting side streets, showing proposed elimination of certain driveways and crosswalks, be approved, and that the City Engineer be instructed to make the necessary changes as shown on the map. At this point, Councilman Riesland amended his motion to include that the cost of making such changes be taken from the parking Meter Fund. The original motion was carried by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Kidder, Riesland, NO~: None. ABSENT: Councilman Hobel. ~Compensation for City Judge The City Administrator read a letter from City Judge Wilson, requesting that he receive added compensation for his services. It was moved by Councilman ~iesland, seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carried, that Judge Wilson be granted a $30.00 per month cost of living increase, effective January 15th, 1951. Adjournment It was moved by Councilman Logan, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that the meeting adjourn to ?:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 23rd, 1951.
