HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1951/02/27I~INUTES OF A REGULAR ADJOURNED OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Tuesday, February 27, 1951 The Council met in the Council Chambers on the above date at 7:00 o'clock P.M. with the following Councilmen present: Hobel, Riesland, Logan, Kidder. Absent: DeWolfe. Also Present: City Engineer Floyd, Asst. Engineer i%%eeler, City Administrator Bryant. At this point, 7:O~ P.~.~., Councilman DeWolfe arrived. ~--Gasoline Bid It was moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried, that the bid of the Richfield Oil Company, ethyl 1R.2, be accepted. Ordinance No. ~29. - Sidewalk Ordinance. It was moved by Councilman DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carried, that the ordinance be placed on its first reading. Report of Annexation Rumors and Facts Nr. Bryant reported that a bill had been prepared and presented to As- semblyman Cloyed for processing through the legislature, which would correct come of the evils of the present law governing annexation of uninhaoited ter- ritory. The Council went on record as endorsing the amendment and authorized ~r. Bryant to so advise our legislators. Report of Third Avenue Extension ~r. Floyd appeared before the Council and stated that as y~t ~r. Buethel of the State Highway Dept. does not have the plans for the Third Avenue ex- tension, and does not know when he will have them. ~r. Floyd further stated that if the plans are not completed within one week, he will get them and have the Engineering Dept. complete them. Tentative ~ap - Parmmount No. 1 Suodzvision It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried, that the tentative map, as presented by Henry Algert, be approved. Authorization for Sign at Shuffleboard Courts It was moved by Councilman De~3olfe, seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carried, that a Ground Rules sign, as suggested by Nr. Boyer, be authorized for the Shuffleboard Courts. //~Resolution No. 120~ - Accepting Deed - Hulbert Fish. Offered by Councilman Riesland, read in full, passed~ adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Riesland, Logan, DeWolfe, Kidder, Hobel. NOF~: None. ~ABSENT: None. The Deed was accepted with the understanding the City would install curb and gutters at no expense to the owner. Refund of Taxes - Fredericka Home It was moved by Councilman Riesland~ seconded by Councilman Logan, and -2- carried, that the 1~h9~-i9~O, and the first installment of 1950-51 taxes in the amount of $1,?78.67 be refunded, and that the second installment of 1950 taxes be waived. Fredericka Home then to waive claim to previous taxes paid in the amount of $1,2~2.00. Refund of Taxes - D. F. Howe Property It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried, that taxes in the smount of $6.55 be refunded, due to error in description of property on rolls. Request for Cancellation of Taxes - St. John's Church It was moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman DeWolfe, and carried, that the 1950-51 taxes in the amount of $64.77 be refunded, as they were paid on property used exclusively for religious purposes. Rssignation o£ Mrs. Bogan - Court Clerk Nr. Bryant read Mrs. Bogan's letter of resignation to the Council. It was moved by Councilman DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carried, that the resignation be accepted and that Nr. Bryant be instructed to write her a letter of appreciation for her long service with the City. Letter of Sympathy - ~rs. Scott It was moved by CounciLman Kidder, seconded by Councilman DeWolfe, and carried, that the Administrative Officer be instructed to write a letter of s~pathy to ~rs. James Scott. Drain Pipe Installation - W. O. Smith It was moved by Councilman DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that the Council confirm the action of Mr. Floyd with regard to in- stallation of a drain pipe at the Smith property. The City to purchase and install and ~{r. Smith to reimburse the City in montSly mnstallments. Drain Repairs - F Street and Parkway It was moved by Councilman Riesland, secoQded by Councilman Kidder, and carried, that the Engineering Department go ahead with repairs to the drain between F Street and Parkway on Fourth Avenue. Correspondence It was moved by Councilma~ Kidder, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried, t~at the letter from the San Diego Club requesting funds from the City of Chula Vista ~e filed, to be considered at the next budget meeting. Horseshoe Courts It was moved by Councilman DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carried, that the Park Superintendent be allowed to construct four additional horseshoe courts. Adjournment It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that the meeting adjourn, sine die.
