HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1951/03/13MINUTF~2 OF A REGULAR ~?EETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALI¥0P&'IA Held Tuesday, March 13, 1951. The Council met in the Council Chambers of the City Hall on the above date at 7:00 o'clock P.M. with the follo~W~ng Councilmen present: Kidder, Riceland, DeWolfe, Logan. Absent: Councilman Hobel. Also Present: City Adm. inistrator Bryant, Czty Engineer Floyd, Asst. Engineer '~heeler. It was moved Dy Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried, that the minutes of the meetings held February' 13th and 2?th be approved as mailed with the following corrections for the minutes of the 2?th: under the caption, Tentative ~ap - Paramount No. I Subdivision, the following words be added: "and ap- proved wlt~ variances as showr,, by the Planning Commission, be accepted". Also add under the report of Third Avenue extension: "Councilman Logan advised that he and Councilman Hobel had called on [~. Beuthel and found that final plans had not been received by him. They were assured of full cooperation by ~. Beuthel." It ~as moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried, that the minutes of the Planning Co~mission meetings held February 19th and ~arch 5th be held over until the next meeting, ~arch 2Otb, and that Councilman Kidder look into the zone variances granted I~arch 5th on the Dagenhart and Grif2in properties on Brightwood Avenue, and report back. Reapportior~ment of Assembly District - James Archer Mr. James Archer appeared before the Council to present a proposed plan for the reapportionment of the assembly district. It was moved by Councilman Logan, seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carried, that the Council get in touch with Representative Cloyed and hold a meeting within the next week before any recommendations are made. Recommendation of the Planning Commission - Concerning Planning Engineer. Chairman Wulff appeared before the Council requesting that tlc Council give full consideration to the obtaining of a full-time Planning Engineer. It was decided that no action be taken until the next meeting, ~arch 20, 1951. Discussion of Youth Center ~rs. Helm appeared before the Council and filed a report for each Councilman in reference to the proposed Chula Vista Youth Center. it was decided that the discussion be postponed until U:OO P.N., March 20, 1951. Tentative }~_ap - !{iles and Dalseth No. 2 It was moved by Councilman Xidder, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried~ that the tentative map of the ~iles & Dalseth No. 2 Subdivision be accepted subject to changes as recommended by the Pl. anning Commission. ~Glover Street Dedication - Lawrence Kuebler It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carried, that the tentative map of the proposed Glover St. dedication by Lawrence Kuebler, Oe accepted subject to changes as recommended by the Planning Commission. 7?eming Subdivision It was moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried, that the tentative map of Deming Subdivision be approved, subject to changes as recommended by the Planning Commission. Chula Vista Highlands - Extension of Time on Improvements The City Clerk read a letter from ~r. Robert Griffin requesting extension of time for improvements on the above property. Ur. Campbell also read a letter from City -2- Engineer Floyd recommending that the extension be denied, or if granted, for not more than 90 days. It was moved by Councilman Kidder, seconded Dy Councilman Riesland, and carried, that in view of the City's moral oblication to the people who have pur- chased property in this area, and in consideration of ?~. Griffin's failure to start the program, that the City grant an extension of 90 days from March 16, 1751 for completion of the improvements. ~(/Paramount Subdivision ~' .~o. 1 - Revised tentativc map. it was moved by Councilman Riesland, secondem by Councilman Kidder, and carried, that the revised tentative map of Paramount Subdivision Nec i be approved, as recom- mended by the Planming Comm, ission. Off-Street Parking It was decided that the discussion of the .Off-Street parking problem be postponed until the next meeting, March 20, 1751. County Agreement for Pound Facilities and Services An agreement whereby the City and County would have joint use of the City Dog Pound facilities was presented in full to the Council. It was move~ by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Counci]x~an Riesis~'.d, that the !{ayes ~d the Cmt.~ Clerk be au- thorized to execute the C~ntract. The motion was carried by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Kidder, Riesland, ~g~ DeWo~e. NO~: None ~ ABSENT: Councilman Hooel. ~Autnormza~on to Sign Warrants It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Logan, that ~,~rs. Peck, assistant Finance Officer, be authorized to sign checks as assistant Finance Officer, AYES: Councilmen Riesland, Logan~ Kidder, DeWolfe. NOES: None. A~SENT: Councilman Hobel. Pay Bills After examination by the entire Counci±, it was moved by Councilman Logan, seconded by Councilman Rieslm~d, and carried, that Iarrants No. 329U to 3~2!) be ap- proved for payments. AZES: Councilmen Logan, Riesland, Kidder De~olfe. NOES: ~one. ABSENT: Councilman !{obel.
