OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
Held Thursday,March 22, 1951.
The City Council met in the Council Chambers of the City Hall on the above date
at 7:00 o'clock P?L with the following Councilmen pre~ent: Hobel, Ries~and, Logan,
De'[~olfe. Absent: Councilman Kidder.
It was noved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried,
that the minutes of the Planning Commission meetings held February 19 and March ~ be
approved as mailed.
It was moved by Councilman Rieslm~d, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried,
that the minutes of the Planning Commission meeting held ~rch 19 be approved as mailed.
Ordinance No. 230 - Providing for the Removal of Weeds and Rubbish, the Assessment
and Collection of ~eed Taxes, and Regulating the Burning of Rubbish.
It was moved by Councilman Logan, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried,
that Ordinance No. ~30 be placed on its first reading. It was thereupon read in full.
Removal of Crosswalks
Iff. Nell Skinner led a general discussion in opposition to the closing of the
Third Avenue crosswalks. It was bis thought that the walks were needed until some
traffic control is set up. Otherwise, all walks should De eliminated. It was moved
by Councilman Logan, seconded by Councilman DeWolfe, and carried, that the Administrative
Officer, ~r. Bryant, alert the Chief of Police to have additional police protection on
Third Avenue for as long as needed.
Off-Street Parking
After general public discussion on the matter of off-street parking, City Adminis-
trative Officer Bryant recalled ~at while attending the last City Nanager's meeting in
San Jose, he learned of a California corporation specializing in the financing, con-
struction and leasing of public projects. He thereupon read a letter he had requested
from the Public Works Corporation of Los Angeles briefly outlining the services they
offer, and offering to send a representative to look into our needs. It was moved by
Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried, that Councilman Dg~olfe,
Riesland, and Logan be a Committee of three representing the City Council to investigate
lots that could be used for off-street parking, and that Mr. Bryant contact the Public
Works Corporation in Los Angeles to see if they can send a representative to the City
to investigate sites in mind.
Adjournment
It was moved by Councilman De%~olfe, seconded by Councilman Logan, and carried,
that the meeting adjourn, sine die.
