Held Tuesday, December 18, 1951
The City Council ~t in the Comncil Chamber on the above date at 7:00 P.M.
with the following Co~mcilmen present: Hobel, Riesland, Logan~ DeWo~'e.
Absent: Councilman Kidder.
~. R. L. Buethel appeared before the Council on the matter of converting the
actuated traffic signals at National Avenue and "E" Street to fixed time signals.
RESOLUTION NO. 1256 - Regulating ~Taffic Signals at Intersection of National
Avenue and "E" Street.
Offered by Councilman Riesland, read in full, passed,
by the following vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen Riesland, Logan, DeWolfe, Hobel.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilman Kidder.

DIRECTIONAL SIGNS
~r. Davis, Chamber of Commerce, requested that some type of directional signs
be installed at the intersection of Third Avenue E×tension and Fourth Avenue. No
action was taken.
BOULEVARD STOP - Davidson Street
%~. Charles Barnes appeared before the Council to request that boulevard stop
signs be placed on Davidson Street between Fifth .and National Avenues to alleviate
the traffic hazard. The Administrative Officer was in~tructed to have the Chief of
Police re-check the intersection and report back.

Attorney Boyer reported that the California Water and Telephone Co. was not
willing to sign a new contract with the City if it required the Company to pay more
than ~0~ of the combined Metropolitan Water District and San Diego CountyWater Au-
thority taxes. It was moved by Councilman De~olfe, seconded by Councilman Logan,
and carried, ~mt Attorney Boyer contact the Watcr Company and request that they sub-
mit a contract for study by the City and that prior to such request to the Water Com-
pany, the National City Council be informed of the action above mentioned to ascertain
if ~ey are in accord.
' PARKING LOT
~jor Floyd reported $1,8OO. O0 as the estimated cost of curbing, drives, and
sidewalks for the parking lot at Landis and Center and that 5?,lOO.O0 was estimated
as cost of surfacing the lot. It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Council-
man DeWolfe, that installation of curbs and sidewalks on the lot and Landis Avenue
be approved, and also that authorization be given to pave the parking lot with two
inches of asphaltic concrete at $.10 a sq. ft. ~e motion was carried by the follow-
ing vote, to-wit:

NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilman Kidder.

It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman DeWolfe, and carried,
