HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1953/01/27 MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Tuesday January 27, 1953 The Council met in the Council Chamber at City Hall at 7:00 P.M on the above date, with the following Council~n present: Councilm~n Riesland, Hobel, Halferty ABSENT: Councilmen DeWolfe, Logan Also present: Chief A~mlnistrative Officer Bryant, City Attorney Boyer ANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS - Special Swimming pool Bond Election The Council proceeded with the canvass of votes cast at the Special Municipal Election held Tuesday, January 20, 1953, according to the procedure set forth in the Statutes. RESOLUTION No. 1400 - Stating the result of the canvass of election returns of the Special Bond Election held January 20, 1953. Offered by Councilm~u Nobel, read in full, passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Hobel, Halferty, Riesland NOES: None Absent Councilmen DeWolfe, Logan STATEMENT OF CITY CLERK I, KENNETH P. CAMPBELL, City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista, California DO HEREBY CERTIFY AND DECLARE that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, at an adjourned re~lar meeting duly held on the 27th day of January, 1953, has duly and regularly canvassed the returns of the special bond election held in the City of Chula Vista on January 20, 1953, pursuant to Ordinance No. 464, and has declared the result of said election. That the bond proposition voted upon at said election is as follows: "BOND PROPOSITION: Shall the City of Chula Vista incur a bonded indebtedness in the principal sum of $375,000.00 for the purpose of the acquisition and construction by the City of Chula Vista of a certain municipal improvement, to-wit: recreation facilities (with parking area for the parking of motor vehicles of persons using such facilities), such recreation facilities to consist of tennis courts, a swimming pool (with water heating and purification apparatus) and a building adjacent thereto for a bath house and bymnasium, with heatin~ and water heating apparatus, dressing rooms, showers and toilets, including the acquisi- tion of all fixtures and furniture and the construc- tion of all work necessary therefor?" That the absent voter ballots have been duly canvassed and counted, and the result of such count is hereinafter stated. I CF~TIFY that the foregoing statement of result is a full, true and correct statement of the facts of said canvass and of the results ~f said election, and that as soon as the result was declared the aforesaid statement was duly entered by me, the City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista, on the records of said City Council. Campbell City Clerk of the City of (SEAL) Chula Vista, California RESOLUTION No. 1401 - Authorizing County to collect unsecured property Tax for 1953-54 Offered by Councilman Halferty, read in full, passed, and adp~ted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: COUNCILMEN Halferty, Riesland, Hobel Noes: None Absent: Councilmen DeWolfe, Lo~an ORDINANCE No. 469 - Fixing time and place for holding Council meetings. It was moved by Councilman Halferty, seconded by Councilman Hobel, and carried, that the ordinance be placed on its first reading. It was thereupon read in full. ORDINANCE No. 466 - Establishing speed l~m~t of 35 miles per hour on certain public streets It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilm~n Hal~erty, and carried, that the ordinance be placed on its second reading. After the reading of the title, it was moved by Councilm~n Hobel, seconded by Councilman Halferty, and carried, that the reading of the text be waived. The ordinance was thereupon adopted by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: COUNCILMEN Hobel, Halferty, Riesland Noes: None Absent: Councilmen DeWolfe, Logan EXPRESSION OF APPRECIATION to Swimming Pool Committee Mayor Riesland took this time to express his appreciation for the work and time devoted by the Swimming Pool Committee on putting the proposition over to the public. The Mayor said the Council would be very ~mppy to accept the continued help and advie~ from the Committee until the project has been completed. Councilm-u Hobel suggested that Chief Administrative Officer Bryant write a letter to each of the Committee, thanking them for their service. ORDINANCE No. 468 - Pertaining to the licensing of certain businesses and occupations It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Counc~lmau Halferty, ~h~' carried that the ordinance be placed on its second reading. After the reading of the title, it was moved by Councilwmu Hobel, seconded by Counci]w~n Halferty, and carried, that the reading of the text be waived. The ordinance was thereupon adopted by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: COUNCILME~ Hobel, Halferty, Riesland Noes: None Absent: Councilmen DeWolfe, Logan It was moved by Councilman Halferty, seconded by CoUncilman Hobel, and carried, that the meeting adjourn sine-die.
