HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1962/03/06 HINUTES OF ANADJOUP~ED RE~ULARHEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Chula Vista, California Held Tuesday Hatch 6, 1962 An adjourned regular meeting o/ the City Council o/ the City of Chula Vista was held at 7:00 P.H. on the above date with the following Councilmen present: Councilmen HcMains, Menzel, Smith, DeGraaf Absent: Councilman NcAlliater Also present: City Engineer Cole, City Attorney Duberg, City Ad~iniatrator Fulwiler, Administrative Analyst Ross, City Planner Fretz Nayor Henzel led the pledge of allegiance to the Flag and asked for a mo=ant of prayer. /REQUEST TO HOVE BUILDING INTO CITY GEANTED A letter was read /ro~ the Planning Co~mission recommending that the applica- tion of J. D. Peters to ~ove a building from National City to the Northvest corner of Third Avenue and N~drona St. in Chula Vista be granted, subject to compliance with reco~endations of the Planning Co~ission and Building Inspector. It was moved by Council~mn Smith, seconded by Councilman Hcl/ains and carried, that the recommendations of the Planning Co~aission be approved and permission be granted to ~ove the building into the City. ~STATUS OF ARIZOHA STREET AT BROAD~h~Y City Engineer Cole submitted a report showing that no portion o/ Arizona St. East o/ Broadway is dedicated as such. A title search disclosed a twenty foot easement across the Northerly portion o/ land o~naed by Hr. Bailey and Hr. Fisher at the Southeast corner of Broadway and Arizona St. It was recoamended that the City Admin- istrator advise Hr. Bailey, ~ho was complaining about the parking situation in the area, to get together with Hr. lisher and Hr. Severin, o~raer o/ the property on the Northeast corner of Broadway and Arizona St., and work out a program vhereby an ease- ment could be dedicated /or street purposes. ~//PARTICIPATION IN BUSINESS EDUCATION DAY APPROVED City Administrator Fulwier stated that the Chamber o/ Commerce has requested that the City participate in Business Education Day, Hatch 29th. On this day business- men will visit schools and teachers will visit businesses. Ir. Fulwiler reco~ended that the City participate and open the Planning Department and Library to those who wish to come. It was moved by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman De~raa/ and carried, that the reco~endation of City Administrator Fulwiler be approved. ~/PROTEST TO INST~LLATION OF SIDEWALKS A letter vas read /rom Harold B. Starkey, 21F. Street protesting the require- ment that he install sidewalks in lront of his property at this address, as required under 1911 Act proceedings, Phase V. The letter was referred to the City Attorney for a report at the public hearing on Phase V at the next meeting, on the legality o/ snot requiring the installation of sidewalks in front of certain properties. ~ LETTER PROTESTING FLUORIDATION A letter was read from John B. Waters, D.D.S., 402 D. A~enue, Coronado, requesting that fluoridation of City water not be inaugurated in Chula Vista by action o/ the City Council. The Council was o/ the opinion that not having received a aequest to take action o/ any kind on fluoridation of City water, there was nothing to be done at this time. The letter was filed. ~//CONDITIONAL USE PEP. HIT DENIED A letter was read from the Planning Commission reporting that the application /or a conditional use permit to allow operation o/ a real estate office at 268 "G" Street was denied by the Planning Commission. BST FOR STREET LIGHTS A letter was read from the Broadway Assn. requesting that the Council include the installation o[ additional street lights on Broadway from "~' St. to "L" St. in the 1962-1963 Budget. ~ORDAY PROCa-RAM A letter was read from the Director oi Recreation inviting the Council to an Arbor Day program honoring Vincent L. Howe on Hatch ?th at 1:30 P.M. in the Memorial Park Bowl. ~/iNVITATION TO TOASTMISTRESS CLUB MEETI.G A letter was read from Vesta DeWolfe, President o£ South Bay Toastmistress Club, inviting City Of£icials to attend a regular meeting of the Club to be held on March 21st at 7:30 P.M. at the Chamber of Commerce Building. ~APPLICATION FOR ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSE A letter was read from Police Chief Quinn informing the Council thai an application has been~ade from Ralph's Superette Inc., (Foodara~a) at ?0 E. 'J" St. for transfer of a license to sell beer and wine for off premises cons~on, to Lucy Eo Doss. The Council was of the opinion that transfer of the existing license should pose no problom. At the request of City Attorney Duberg, it was moved by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman DeGraaf and carried, that the City Attorney be authorized to go to Sacramento relative to the proposed San Diego Bay Port Authority investigation.
