HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1962/08/14 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Chula Vista, California Held Tuesday August 14, 1962 The Council met in the Council Chambers at the City Hall on the above date at 7:00 P.M. with the followinS Councilmen present: Councilmen McMains, DeGraaf, Smith Absent: Councilmen HcAllister, ltenzel Also present: City Engineer Cole, City Attorney Duberg, Administrative Analyst Ross, City Planner Fretz Pro-tam Mayor 9eOraaf led the pledge of allesiance to the Flas, and asked for a moment of prayer. Statement: The City Clerk hereby states that he did post within 24 hours of I~lJourn~ent, as provided by law, the order of adjournment of the resular meeting of August 14, 1962. APPROVAL OF COUNCIL HINUTES It ~as moved by Councilman NcHains, seconded by Councilman Smith and 'carried, that the Minutes for maetinss of July 10, 17, 24, and August 7th be approved as mailed to each Councilman. , /~PUBLIC HEARING -Proposed closinS of a portion o£ Trenton Street This bainS the time and place, as advertised, for a public hearinS on the proposed cl~ng of a portion of Trenton Street, llayor pro-tam DeGraaf declared the hearinS open. Offered by Councilman Smith, passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Smith, DeGraaf, Mcliains Noes: None Absent: Councilmen McAllister, lienzel ~R~RT ON EXTENSION OF "E" STREET TO BONITA ROAD City Engineer Cole reviewed five alternate methods studied by the Engineering Division for extending "E" Street to connect with Bonita Road. A s,.-~ry of the estimated cost of each aligoment was also reviewed for the Council. It was the reco~hand- arSon of the Engineering Division that alternate "C" be approved as being most feas- ible, the County already having indicated a willingness to participate in this particular alignment. It was moved by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman HcMains and carried, that aligmaent plan "C" for the extension of "Et' Street to Bonita Road be accepted and the City Achninistrator directed to proceed with the necessary action to see that it is developed. V/REPORT ON APPLICATION FOR BEER AND WINE LICENSE Police Chief quinn gave a report on the application of Hr. Chei Te Chang for an on-sale beer and wine license for his restaurant at 259 Broadway. The Chief could foresee no specific problems that might be created by issuance of a license for this address. It was moved by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman McMains and carried that the Council voice no objection to the application of Mr. Chang. Also presented for Council study was a map by the Police Depart~aent showing the location and type of all establishments in the City dispensing alcoholic beverages of any kind. ~/~BLICHEETINGON PORT AUTHORITY BILL A letter was read from the Chula Vista Business and Professional Womens~ Club inviting interested citizens to a public meeting concerning the Port Authority Bill to be held in the Council Chambers, August 16th at 7:30 P.M. ~/~E(~UEST FOR RELIEF ON SEWER ASSESSMENT FEE A letter was read from the President of the South Bay Chapter of Starlite Center for Retarded Children, asking that the Council give them some relief from payment of all or part of the sewer assessment fee of $1,665.00 which is against their property.
