It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman Riesland,
and carried that Ordinance No. 479 be placed on its first reading. It was
thereupon read in full.
AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE STREET ~EEPE~
It was moved by Councilm~n Riesland, seconded by Councilman Hobel,
and carried, that City Administrator Floyd be authorized to purchase a new
Wayne Street Sweeper for $9,373.00, and that the calling for bids as required
in Ordinance No. 459 be dispensed with, as competitive bidding for this
product is found to be impractical or impossible.
The motion carried by the following vote, to-wit:
AYESI Councilmen Riesland, Hobel, Halferty
Noes: None
Absent: Councilmen Logan and DeWolfe
POLICE REPORT - William Lay Case - Chief McCollum
Police Chief ~cCollum appeared before the Council to assure them
everything possible was being done under due process of law to thoroughly
and completely investigate the William Lay case, and that the case was
definitely not closed as ~reviously reported. Also that the Council was
welcome to review all the records on the case as compiled so far.
Mayor pro-tem Halferty expressed his utmost confidence in the
Police Department and was sure everything possible was being done to bring
the case to a Just close.
Councilm~n Hobel pointed out that a Citizens' Petition against the
Police Department was to be filed with the Council, and that the Rohr
employees were quite incensed over the reported mishandling of the case by
the Police Department, and suggested that Chief McCollum repudiate, by a
statement to the press, the false report that the investigation of the case
was closede
RESOLUTION No. 1467 - Approvi~ Agreement for plumber examination.
Offered by Councilm,n Riesland, read in full, passed, adopted and
approved by the following vote, to-wit:
AYES: Council~n Riesland, Hobel, N~l~erty
Noes: None
Absent: Councilm-n DeWolfe, Logan
ORDINANCE No. 480 - Amending Sales Tax Ordinance No. 371
It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilm~ H~lferty,
and carried, that Ordinance 480 he placed on its first reading. It was
thereupon read in full.
~?APPOINTMENT OF~CITY PLANNER WAGNER as ~m~nistrative Officer Pro-Tom
It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Hobel,
and carried, that City planner Wagner be appointed Administrative Officer
pro-tem during the absence of City ~Smtnis~rator Floyd on hie vacation°
It was moved by Councilman Hebel, seconded by Counc~lm=n Riceland,
and carried, that the meeting adjourn sine-die.
