OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
Chula Vista, California
Held Thursday February 18, 1954
The Council met in the Council Chambers at City Hall on the above
date at 2:00 P.M with the following Councilmen present:
Councilmen DeWolfe, Riesland, Halferty
Absent: Councilmen Logan, Hobel
Also present: City Administrator Floyd, City Attorney Campbell, City Finance
Officer Grant, City planner Wagner
~ S AND DAISETH UNIT No. 4 - Tentative Map
It was moved by Councilman Halferty, seconded by Council,~n Riesland,
and carried, that the tentative map of Miles and Dalseth Unit No. 4 heretofore
approved by the planning Commission be approved, subject to improvements
required by Section 7 of the Subdivision Ordinance, and subject to the one foot
lots along the South and East sides of Center Street being dedicated to the
City and elimination of the combination curbs and sidewalks as per the sidewalk
Ordinance, and that lots 2 through 9 be widened tn 53 feet.

It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Counct~m~n Halferty,
and carried, that the tentative plans be approved, subject to annexation and
the recommendations of the Planning Cormmissione

The bids were referred to the engineering department for study, wit~ the
awarding of the bid scheduled for February 25, 1954.
RESOLUTION No. 1528 - Accepting dedication of easement for street purposes

Offered by Councilman Halferty, read in full, passed, adopted and approved,
by the following vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen Riesland, Half, try, DeWolfe
Noes: None
Absent: Councilmen Hobel, Logan
~OPE~ING OF BIDS - Sale of City Property - Pacific Grove Lot
This being the time and place as advertised for opening of the bids
on sale of the City owned lot in Pacific Grove Subdivision, City Administrator
Floyd opened the one sealed bid received.
The bid for $3600. was submitted by Dr. Ralph Giddings.
Mr. Ahe Wasserman raised the hid 10% to $3960.
Dr. Giddings raised the bid 10% to ~.
Mr. Wasserman raised the bid 10% to $4811.
Dr. Giddings again raised the bid 10% to $5292.
There being no further bids, the lot was sold to Dr. Giddings for $5292.00
RESOLUTION No. 1529 - Authorizi~ Quit-Claim Deed to Dr. Giddings for
Pacific Grove lot
Offered by Councilman Halferty, read in full, passed, adopted and approved
by the following vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen Riesland, Halferty, DeWolfe
Noes: None
Absent: Councilmen Hobel, Logan
RECOMMENDATION OF ONE HOU~ PA~KIN~ ON E. STREET EAST OF THIRD AVENUE
In response to a request by Robert C. Cole for one hour parking on
E. Street East of Third Avenue, and upon recommendation of the Police Department,
it was suggested that one hour parking be established on the south side of
E. Street only, between the Easterly curb line of Third Avenue and the West line
of the alley between Del ~ar Avenue and Church Avenue.

~.~F~PORT ON TRAFFIC CONTROL - National Avenue between C. and D. Streets
City Administrator Floyd stated a cross-walk had already been painted
across National Avenue just south of Orange Street, and that he had contacted
the power-Company for more illumination in the area.
~LETTER OF RESIGN~TION from Planning Commission
A letter was read f~om ~r. A1 Poulter tendering his resignation from
the Pla:~ing Commission.
It was moved by CouncilmAn Riesland, seconded by Councilman Halferty,
and carried, that the resignation be accepted, and that a letter of appreciation
for services rendered be sent to Mr. Poulter.
LETTER OF RESIGNATION from Chula Vista Board of Recreation
A letter was read from Mr. George Cornell tendering his resignation from
the Chula Vista Board of Recreation,
It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Halferty,
and carried, that the resignation be accepted, and that a letter of appreciation
for services rendered he sent to ~r. Cornell.
ORDINANCE No. 487 - Providing for the issuance of bonds of said City in
the amount of $375,000. and repealing Ordinance No. 483
of said City - second reading
It was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Halferty,
and carried, that Ordinance No. 487 be placed on its second reading.
The ordinance was thereupon read in full and adopted by the following vote,
to-wit:

Noes: None
Absent: Councilmen Hobel, Logan
PLANNING COMMISSION ME~ERS SUGGESTED
Mayor DeWolfe suggested Mr. Claude Henninger as a nominee for the
City Planning Commission.
Councilman Halferty suggested Mr. David Phair.
No action was taken due to the absence of Councilmen Hobel and Logan.
The matter was put over until the next meeting.
~PREQ~EST FOR JOINT MEETING of the City Council and Planning Commission
City Administrator Floyd requested a joint meeting of the City Council
and Planning Commission, and asked that an early date be set.
No action taken pending the appointment of new members.
It was moved by Councilman Halferty, seconded by Councilman Riesland,
and carried, that the meeting be adjourned to February 23, 1954 at 7:00 P.M.
