Campbell DISCUSSION on Policy to be followed in allowing public agencies outside the City to connect to the City Sewer System. City Attorney Campbell reported that it is legally permissible to allow public agencies in the County to connect to the City Sewer System, and also that a charge may be made if desired. After discussion, Mayor Halferty directed City Administrator Floyd and Principal Engineer Johnson to make a study of probable costs to the City by allowing such connections, in order to determine a fair use charge, and report at the next meeting. It was suggested that City Administrator Floyd invite representatives of the School District to join in the study. RESOLUTION No. 1612 - Accepting Quit-Claim Deed to Vista Square Housin~ Project. Offered by Council~n Riesland, read in full, passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Rader, Halferty, Riesland, DeWolfe Noes: None Absent: Councilman Hobel DISCUSSION on Post Office Option City Attorney Campbell read a form option s,nt to him by Postmaster Stahlheber and expl-~ued the Government was seeking an option to purchase land on the Civic Center site for a Post Office, in order that uniform bids might be obtained for the one site. Councilman DeWolfewas of the opinion some mention should be made of the cost to the City at the expiration of the option, after normal amortized depreciation on the building. Postmaster Stah]_heberwas concerned with what degree the Councilwas willing to relax the architectural design conformity, in order to bring the cost down. It was thought the maindifference in costwould be the sloping tile roof, as the Govex~ment has more or less standardized on flat rooves. Mr. Wesley Mohr thought it might behoove the City to hire an architect to draw up a perspective of the proposed Post Office as the Council would like it, in order that builders would have something to conform to in bidding. The Council suggested having sloping tile rooves covering one-third of the roof space on the South andWest facades, with the parapets on the North and East sides capped with tile. It was moved by Councilman DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Rader, and carried, that City Administrator Floyd be authorized to consult an architect and draw brief plans and specifications, as discussed at this meeting, subject to their being accepted and passed at the next Re~,~-- meeting.
