OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CHULAVISTA, CALIFOKNIA
Held Tuesday April 14, 1964
A regular meeting was held in the Council Chambers by the City Coun-
cil on the above date at ?:00 P.M. with the following Councilmen present:
Councilmen McMains, McAllister, Menzel, Smith, DeOraaf
Absent: None
Also present: City Engineer Cole, City Attorney Duberg, Administrative
Officer Ross, Acting Director of Planning Warren
Mayor Menzel led the pledge of allegiance to the Flag and asked for a moment
of silent prayer.
Statement: The City Clerk hereby states that he did post within twenty-
four hours of adjourranent, as provided by law, the order of
adjournment of the regular meeting of April 14, 1964.
APPROVAL OF COUNCIL MINUTES
It was moved by Councilman DeGraaf, seconded by Councilman McMains,
and carried that the Council minutes for the meetings of March 10, 17, 24,
31 and April 7 be approved, as mailed.
ORDINANCE NO. 883 - Approving Princess Hilltop Annexation - Second reading
It was moved by Councilman DeGraaf, seconded by Councilman McMains,
and carried that Ordinance No. 883 be placed on its second reading, that
reading of the text be waived, and the ordinance adopted. The motion carried
by the following vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen DeGraaf, McMains, McAllister~ Menzel, Smith
Noes: None
Absent: None
HESOLUTION NO. 3361 - Appropriating $300,000.00 for Corporation Yard
Offered by Councilman Smith, passed and adopted by the following
vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen Smith, DeGraaf, McMains, HcAllister, Menzel
Noes: None
Absent: None
RESOLUTION NO. 3362 - Declaring competitive bidding impractical in view of
limited time remaining to develop Corporation Yard -
Purchase of items (Automotive repair)
Offered by Councilman Smith, passed and adopted by the following
vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen Smith, DeGraaf, McMains, McAllister, Menzel
Noes: None
Absent: None
RESOLUTION NO. 3363 - Appropriating $4,836.50 for access road to Eucalyptus
Park
Offered by Councilman DeGraaf, passed and adopted by the following
vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen DeGraaf, McMains, McAllister, Menzel, Smith
Noes: None~

KECOliiENDATION FR(~I PLANNING COMMISSION - Street Name Changes - Princess
Hilltop Annexation
Acting Director of Planning gave a report on the Planning Commission
reco~nendation. City Attorney Duberg recommended the City withhold any action
until the annexation is completed at the end of the thirty-day waiting period.
The Planning Commission also reco~anended that Orange Avenue be changed to
Poggi Canyon Road which is as yet in the County. No action taken at this time.
COf~BNDATION FR(~4 PLANNING COD~4ISSION - AdoptiOnordinanceOf Amendments to Zoning
The recommendation of adoption of amendments to the Zoning Ordinance
by the Planning Commission was submitted to the Council. It was moved by
Councilman DeGraaf, seconded by Councilman Smith, to set May 5 at 7:00 P,Ho
for the time of public hearing.
RESOLUTION NO. 3364 - Approving agreement with Lowell Mill/gan for design
of Library addition
Offered by Councilman McMains, passed and adopted by the following
vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen McMains, McAllister, Menzel, DeGraaf
Noes: Councilman Smith
Absent: None
RESOLUTION NO. 3365 - Authorizing settlement of condemnation proceedings -
City of Chula Vista rs. Mantle Montgomery Hampton,
and appropriating funds
Offered by Councilman McAllister, passed and adopted by the follow-
ing vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen McAllister, Menzel, DeGraaf, Smith, McMains
Noes: None
Absent: None
/CIVIC CENTER NEWS PRAISED
A letter was read fromM rs. Bettie K, Walker offering her appreciation
for the Civic Center News and urging it be continued.
~DIsCussION ON BROADWAY & PARKWAY IMPROVEMENTS
Councilman Smith asked City Engineer Cole if improvements were to be
completed at Broadway and Parkway and if it was planned to do so under the
1911 Act. Mr. Cole reported culvert problems are involved first before the
actual improvements can be completed.
APPRECIATION EXPRESSED TO NEWSPAPERS
Councilman Smith expressed his personal thanks and appreciation to
the Star-News and San Diego Union-Tribune during his term of office.
ADJOURI~ENT
Mayor Menzel adjourned the meeting at 7:40 P.M. until April 21 at
7:00 P.M.
