HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1954/11/22MINUTES OF A REGULAR ADJO[RNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Chula Vista, California Held Monday November 22, 195~ The Council met in the Council Chambers at City Hall on the above date at 7:00 P.M. with the follmving Councilmen present: Councilmen Rader, Halferty, Riesland, Hobel Absent: Councilman DeWolfe Also present: City Administrator Floyd, City Attorney M. Campbell, Principal Engineer Johnson ~-I~ANVASS OF VOTES The Council proceeded ~-th the canvass of Votes cast at the Special Municipal Election held Thursday, November 18, 1954, according to the procedure set forth in the Statutes. RESOLUTION No. 1651 - Results of Canvass of Special Municipal Election Offered by Councilman Hobel, read in full, passed, adopted, and approved by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Rader, Halferty, Hiesland, Hobel Noes: None Absent: Councilman D6J~olfe ~TATE~ENT OF CITY CLERK I, KENNETH P. CA~,~BELL, City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista, California DO HE~XEBY CERTIFY that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, California at an adjourned regular meeting duly held on November 22, 1954 has duly and regularly canvassed the returns of the Special Municipal Election held in the City of Chula Vista on November 18, 1754, and has declared the results as follows: That the whole number of votes cast in the City was 5,638 That the following measures were voted upon at said election: Shall Richard J. Halferty be recalled from the office of City Councilman of the City of chula Vista? Shall James L. Hobel be recalled from the office of City Councilman of the City of Chula Vista? 3: Shall Aaron A. Riesland be recalled from the office of City Councilman of the City of Chula Vista? If the recall prevails, shall the City Council fill the vacancy or vacancies by appointment or call a Special Election for that purpose? That attached hereto and made a part hereof is a list of proposals voted on, together with the number of votes received in each precinct, and the total votes received in the election. I CFRTIFY that the foregoing statement of result is a full, true and correct statement of the facts of said canvass and of the results of said election~ and that as soon as the result was declared, the aforesaid statement was duly entered by me, the City Clerk o£ the City of chula Vista, on the records of said City Council. City of Chula Vista, California ~,~ALL OF ELECTION At this time the Clerk read the call of election to fill the vacancies arising as a result of the recall election. ~/~UBLIC HEARING - Annexation of Country Club Hills No. 2 This being the time and place, as advertised, for a public hearing on the annexation of Country Club Hills No. 2, ~ayor Nalferty declared the ;ublic hearing open, and called for protests from the audience. There being no protests, either oral or written from property owners within the territory proposed to be annexed, or otherwise, ~{ayor Nalferty declared the public hearing closed. ORDINANCE No. ~06 - Approving annexation of Country club Hills No. 2 It 7~as moved by Councilman Nobel, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that Ordinance No. 506 be placed on its first reading. It was thereupon read in full. UEST TO LEASE CITY property Billboards for Sidney Derene of the Chula Vista Neon Sign Company appeared before the Council requesting a lease on a portion of City property west of the Freeway and North of C. Street for billboard purposes. It 'Nas moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that the request be referred to the City Attorney and City Administrator ~1. oyd to check locations and draw up the required lease for presentation at the next regular meeting. RESOLUTION No. 1652 - Appointing Housing l~{anager to represent City in kkaall Claims Court Offered by Councilman Riesland, read in full, passed, adopted, and approved by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Rader, ilalferty, P~iesland, Hobel Noes: None Absent: Councilman De¥~olf e /'~ CHULA VISTA ~ANOR ~1~0 . 2 -- Approving final map It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that the final map and improvement plans of Chula Vista l~anor No. 2 be accepted upon the execution by the owner of a contract ~ith the City of Chula Vista for the installation of improvements and the posting of a bond guaranteeing the performance thereof, which contract and guaranty shall be first approved by the City Attorney as to form and legality. RESOLUTION No. 1653 - Approving Improvement Agreement-Chula Vista Nanor Ifc. 2 Offered by Councilman Riesland, read in full, passed, adopted, and approved by the following vote, to~,vit: AYES: Councilmen Rader, Halferty, Riesland, Hobel Noes: None Absent: Councilman De~olfe ~-~ZONE VARIANCE APPEAL - Warren An appeal of the action of the rlanning Commission in denying a zone variance to Carlyle S. Warren at 288 Fifth Avenue was read to the Council. ~e written report of the planning Commission disclosing in what respects the application for variance and facts offered in support failed to meet the variance requirements, was alSo read to the Council. It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and carried, that December 1~, 195~ at 7:00 P.5~ be set for the public hearing on the Carlyle Warren Zone Variance appeal. The motion carried by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Rader, Halferty, Riesland, Hobel Noes: None Absent: Councilman DeWolfe R~OLUTION No. 16~ - Approving tentative map of Judson Tract Offered by Councilman Riesland, read in f~ll, passed, adopted, and approved by the following vote, to-vrlt: AYES: Councilmen Rader, Halferty, Riesland, Hobel Noes: None Absent: Councilman De?.~olfe ADJOURnmeNT It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman Riesland, and unanimously carrled that the meeting adjourn sine die.
