above date at 7:00 P.M with tbs following Councilmen present:

~UEST FOR ~.~.TING ON ~ UATN ORDINANCE
Mayor Mansell stated Mr. Lloyd Lee, Contractor, had requested a
Cow~ttee neet with the Council to study and work out an agreeable ordinance
on the placement of sewer maine. The Mayor suggested a nesting be called,
with ~_ Contractor Committee, sonet~-- prior to the August 9th Council meeting.

City Attorney M. Ca, ell requested funds be appropriated, in order
that bs might att~ad tbs League of ~i~ornia Cities Convention in ~an Francisco.
It was aoved by Co-~cllmac Smith, seconded by ~ouncil~an Rader, and
carried, that $150. be appropriated from unappropriated surplus, in order that
tbs City Attorney ma~ attend the League Convention. Tbs ~otion carried by the
following vote, to-wit:

APPLICATION FOR HOUSE MOVING
An applAcation was read froa Mr. A. Carroll for per~asion to ~oVe a
dwelling into the City. It was moved by Councilma~ DeGr=-~, seconded by
Councilman DeWolfe, and carried, that tbs application be approved, subject to
Mr. Carroll meeting all provisions of the building code requirements.
/~URB AND GUTT~ PROJECT - Del Mar Avenue
Mayor Mansell stated five proper~y owners on Del Mar AVenue Just ~outh
of SeaVale Street had made deposits with tbs City for the installation of curbs
and gutters, with one property owner declining to do so, and asked if the Council
wisbsd to install the curb and gutter for the sixth propex~cy, ,,~er provisions
set forth in Article 2 of the 1911 Improvement Act.
Councilma~ DeWolfs was of the opinion the Cotmcil should establish a
policy to follow in the future, as regards thAs type of i~provenent program.
A policy was not establisbsd at this time. It was ~oved by Counc~n ~mith,
seconded by Cou~c~,~- Rader, and carried, that contract be let to instil3
curbs and gutters in front of the five properties that have deposited tbs necessary
mensy, and that tbs City install tbs curb and gutter on tbs sixth property
according to 1911 Act proceedings.
City Engineer Floyd presented the following bids received for two
fifty inch cUlverts under Fourth Avenue, to replace tbs present thirty inch
culverts on Fourth Avenue West of the new Bymnasium.

It was moved by Councilman DeQraaf, seconded by Councilman DeWolee, and
ca~led, that the bid be awarded to Pace Construction Co. for $8898.OO. The
motion carz~ed by the follcmir~ vote, to-w~t;

~ARIATION REQUEST on Mortuary Roof Granted
Mr. Jack Gardner, Jr., bulmer of a mortuary building on National
Avenue, as~d permission of the Council to t~nRtall a wood shake shingle roof on
hie bntldi~g instead of a composition roof as required in the code for the
particular fire zone in which the buildi~ ia located.
Mr. Gardr~r stated that u~er State law, it was per~issibla if a one
hour fire resistant roof is laid below the shingles.
It was moved by Cou~ci~man Rader, seconded by Councilman DeGraaf, and
carried, that Mr. Gardner be granted .~ermission to construct the shake shingle
roof, subject to the building Ymspect~r,s requirements.
Mr. Gardner stated he wou~d co~ply with all requirements and wishes
of the building Inspector.
