MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
Held Tuesday May 21, 1957
The Council met in the Council Chambers on the above date at 6:00 PoM
with the following Councilmen present:
Councilmen gader, Smith, Dillon, DeWolfe
Absent: Nayor 1)eGraaf
Also present: City Administrator Wade, Purchaser-Analyst Ross, and
City Finance Officer Grant
In the absence of Mayor DeGraaf, Mayor Pro-rem Smith presided at the
Council table.
ORDINANCE No. 565 - Approval of Whittington Annexation No. 2-Second reading
It was moved by Councilman Rader, seconded by Councilman Dillon, and
carried, that Ordinance No. 565 be placed on its second reading; that the
reading of the text be waived and the Ordinance adopted. The motion
carried by the following vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen Eader, Smith, Dillon, DeWolfe
Noes: None
Absent: Councilman DeGraaf
~/AMENDI/ENT~ TO PLUI/BING ORDINANCE PROPOSED
City Administrator Wade presented a proposed amendment to the plumbing
ordinance as submitted by the Building Inspector. The amendment would
permit the use of copper tubing for drainage lines, It was moved by
Councilman DeWolfe, seconded by Councilman Dillon, and carried, that the
amendment be adopted and the City Attorney directed to draft the necessary
ordinance.
i~/R~QUEST FOR TIDELANDS LEASE
City Administrat'or Wade stlted that he had received a request from the
San Diego Gas & Electric Company to lease certain tidelands from the City.
The Council suggested that the Gas Company furnish the Harbor Commission
and Council with maps and detailed plans of the area they desire to lease,
and that no action to lease be taken until it has been determined feasible
by the Harbor and Planning Co~issions.
~/~AY RAISE STUDY REQUESTED
Lewis Fry, ']P~esident of the Employees' Association, presented charts
on living costs and prevailing wage scales in cities comparable in size
to Chula V&sta, together with recommendations of the Association for pay
increases for the coming fiscal year. It was his request that the Council
study the recommendations~ for consideration at the current budget sessions.
ADJOUREENT
Pro rem Mayor Emith adjourned the meeting at 6:55 P.M. until May 28th
at 7:00 P.M.
