HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1959/03/20 MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETIN~ OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CttULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Friday March 20, 1959 The Council met in the Council Chambers at the City Hall on the above date at 2:30 P.M. with the following Councilmen present: Councilmen Councilmen McAllister, Menzel, DeGraaf, McMains Absent: Councilman Smith Also present: City Attorney Kugler, City Administrator Fulwiler, City Finance Officer Grant, City Engineer Floyd Mayor Menzel led the salute to the Flag. ~ /~RoPoSED TIDELANDS LEASE ~ITH ROHR AIRCRAFT City Administrator Fulwiler outlined contents of a proposed tidelands lease with Rohr Aircraft Corporation, and reconunended that the Council enter into an agreement with Rohr Aircraft Corp. for the lease. RESOLUTION No. 2201 - Approving Tidelands Lease agreement with Rohr Corp. Offered by Councilman McMains, Passed, adopted and approved, subject to the signing of the lease by Rohr Aircraft Corp., by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen McAllister, Menzel, DeGraaf, McMains Noes: None Absent: Councilman Smith /~PPROPRIATION OF FUNDS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE TIDELANDS It was moved by Councilman DeGraaf, seconded by Councilman McAllister and carried, that for deyelopment of a portion of the tidelands near Rohr Aircraft Corp., $133,500. be appropriated from the reserve from Capital development of the General Fund, and further, that this money so appropri- ated be transferred as a loan to the Harbor Fund. T[is loan from the General Fund to be repaid with the money received from a tidelands lease with Rohr Aircraft Corp. ,/~UPPORT OF AB 156 APPROVED /-- City~nistrator Fulwiler stated that AB 156 was now ~before the Legislature, and asked authorization to send a telegram to Assemblyman Schradein support of the Bill which would give more local control over school construction and zoning. It was moved by Councilman McMains, seconded by Councilman McAllister, and carried, that City Administrator Fulwiler wire each Assemblyman urging that they support AB 156. OF COMMITTEE ON SPEEDWAY NOISE Councilman McAllister and Councilman McMains reported on their meet- ing with representatives of both sides of the Speedway noise controversy. The Councilmen at the Committee meeting asked the representatives of the SeaVale group if they would agree to giving operators of the Speedway a specified time in which to try to overcome the noise nuisance, The SeaVale group demanded that the racing be abandoned immediately. They were told there was no further action the Council could take, and that it would have to be a Civil action between the two factions. ADJOURNMENT Mayor Menzel adjourned the meeting at 3:45 P.M. until Tuesday, March 24th at 7:00 PM.
