HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1967/08/01Held Tuesday MINUTES OF A KEGULARMEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULAVISTA, CALIFORNIA August 1, 1967 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista was held in the Council Chambers on the above date at 7:00 P.M. with the following Coun- cilmen present: Councilmen Anderson, Sparling, McAllister Absent: Councilmen Sylvester, McCorquodale (Authorized-Boston League Conference) Also present: City Attorney Lindberg, Administrative Officer Ross, City Engineer Cole, Planning Director Warren, Assistant Administra- tive Officer Stenberg, Administrative Assistant Sullins In the absence of Mayor McCorquodale, Mayor pro tem Sparling presided and led in the pledge of allegiance to the Flag. Invocation was given by Rev. Glen Rinard of the Sunnyside Friends Church. APPROVAL OF COUNCIL MINUTES It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman Anderson, and carried that the minutes for the meeting of July 25, 1967, be approved, copies having been sent to each Councilman. PRESENTATION OF 20-YEAR SERVICE AWARD PIN TO CHARLES CULVER Mayor pro rem Sparling presented a service award pin to Charles V. Culver, Captain in the Chula Vista Fire Department, for his twenty years of service with the City. ~/PuBLIC HEARING - Consideration of zone change from R-3 to C-1 and change in set- backs for property located on the east side of Fourth Avenue, 160 feet south of "C" Street This being the time and place, as advertised, for a hearing on the proposed zone change from R-3 to C-1 and change in setbacks for property located on the east side of Fourth Avenue, 160 feet south of "C" Street, Mayor pro rem Sparling declared the hearing open. No one wishing to be heard either for or against the proposed rezoning, and the Clerk having received no written communications, the Mayor pro rem declared the hearing closed. ORDINANCE NO. 1069 - Approving zone change from R-3 to C-1-D and establishing setbacks for property located on the east side of Fourth Avenue, 160 feet south of "C" Street - First reading It was moved by Councilman Anderson that Ordinance No. 1069 be placed on its first reading and that reading of the text be waived by unanimous consent. The motion was carried by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Anderson, Sparling, McAllister Noes: None Absent: Councilmen Sylvester, McCorquodale ~-~PUBLIC HEARING - Consideration of a zone change from R-1 to R-3-D for property located between 65 and 81 Third Avenue It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman Anderson, and carried that this hearing be continued until August 8, 1967, at 7:00 P.M. PUBLIC REARING - Consideration of proposed annexation of Bonita Cove Annexation No. 3 This being the time and place, as advertised, for a hearing on the proposed Bonita Cove Annexation No. 3, Mayor pro rem Sparling declared the hearing open. No one wishing to be heard and the Clerk having received no written communications, the Mayor pro rem declared the hearing closed. ORDINANCE NO. 1070 - Approving annexation of Bonita Cove Annexation No. 3 - First reading It was moved by Councilman Anderson that Ordinance No. 1070 be placed on its first reading and that the reading of the text be waived by unanimous consent. The motion carried by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Noes: Absent: Councilmen Anderson, Sparling, McAllister None Councilmen Sylvester, McCorquodale RESOLUTION NO. 4505 - Naming and dedicating a portion of East Oxford Street Offered by Councilman McAllister, the reading of the text was waived by unanimous consent, passed and adopted by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen McAllister, Anderson, Sparling Noes: None Absent: Councilmen Sylvester, McCorquodale RESOLUTION NO. 4506 - Giving notice of intention to vacate a drainage easement adjacent to Dalseth Hills Subdivision No. 4 Offered by Councilman Anderson, the reading of the text was waived by unanimous consent, passed and adopted by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Anderson, Sparling, McAllister Noes: None Absent: Councilmen Sylvester, McCorquodale RESOLUTION NO. 4507 - Accepting, naming and dedicating one-foot lot in Dalseth Hills Subdivision No. 4 Offered by Councilman McAllister, the reading of the text was waived by unanimous consent, passed and adopted by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen McAllister, Anderson, Sparling Noes: None Absent: Councilmen Sylvester, McCorquodale RESOLUTION NO. 4508 - Accepting grant deed for one-foot control lot in Dalseth Hills Subdivision No. 6 Offered by Councilman McAllister, the reading of the text was waived by unanimous consent, passed and adopted by the following vote, to-wit: &YES: Councilmen McAllister, Anderson, Sparling Noes: None Absent: Councilmen Sylvester, McCorquodale RESOLUTION NO. 4509 - Accepting drainage easement adjacent to Dalseth Hills Sub- division No. 6 Offered by Councilman McAllister, the reading of the text was waived by unanimous consent, passed and adopted by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen McAtlister, Anderson, Sparling Noes: None Absent: Councilmen Sylvester, McCorquodale RESOLUTION NO. 4510 - Approving agreement with Spring Valley Sanitation District establishing fees for connection to Edgemere Avenue sewer line Offered by Councilman Anderson, the reading of the text was waived by unanimous consent, passed and adopted by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Anderson, Sparling, McAllister Noes: None Absent: Councilmen Sylvester, McCorquodale RESOLUTION NO. 4511 - Accepting bids and awarding contract for cut stock and miscellaneous papers Offered by Councilman Anderson, the reading of the text was waived by unanimous consent, passed and adopted by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Anderson, Sparling, McAllister Noes: None Absent: Councilman Sylvester, McCorquodale WEED REMOVAL AUTHORIZED Administrative Officer Ross stated he has received a request from the ~ire Department for authority to remove combustible vegetation and debris from four- teen different, parcels of property in the City which were posted with "Notice to Clean Premises~ signs as required by Ordinance No. 430. It was moved by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McAllister, and carried that the Fire Inspector be directed to proceed with the necessary arrangements to have the weeds removed as requested. ~/LETTER OF APPRECI-&TION A letter was read from Mr. William C. Moeser expressing appreciation to the Council for having presented him with a key to the City of Chula Vista. Mayor pro rem Sparling praised Mr. Moeser highly for his many civic con- tributions to the City in the past years. ~/'~EQUEST FOR HELP TO EXPEDITE FP, EEWAY C(~w~PLETION Mr. William Moeser stated that at the last of this month or first of Sep- tember, there would be a State Highway Association meeting to discuss Freeway No. 805. Fir. Moeser requested that the Council and other groups appear at this meeting to help expedite the construction of the southern end of Freeway 805 in order that it can be finished one year sooner. Mayor pro rem Sparling asked Mr. Moeser to give the particulars of the meeting to Administrative Officer Ross so that all possible could attend the meeting. ADJOURNMENT Mayor pro rem Sparling adjourned the meeting at 7:40 P.M., sine die. City Clerk
