7. Commissioner Comments -
Chair Thomas asked Frank Rivera the status of additional responsibilities for the Safety Commission as per
Council direction.
Frank Rivera responded that Proposition L was defeated in 1992. That was the bill that would have given the
Safety Commission decision making status. However, the City Attorney's office indicated to staff that they
could proceed with changing some of the duties of the Safety Commission. The City Council wanted the
Safety Commission to look at the all-way stop policy for possible revisions which would make the restrictions
a little more lenient. He suggested meeting more often in order to accomplish the task. He suggested meeting
one additional time per month and possibly include a brief workshop at the end of the regularly scheduled
meeti ng.
Chair Thomas asked for suggestions on when Commissioners could meet. It was agreed that the Commission
would hold a workshop meeting on July 1,1993 at 7:00 pm to discuss the all-way stop warrant system.
Frank Rivera said he would send out a letter reminding Commissioners of the meeting and announcing the
location.
ADIOURNMENT
Chair Thomas adjourned the meeting at 7:28 p.m. to workshop meeting at Jakes SouthBay Restaurant.
Respectfully Submitted,
~
