As stated in the City of Chula Vista literature, Department of Engineering, Frequently Asked Questions, "Before and after studies have shown that there is no significant changes in average vehicle speeds following the posting of new or revised speed limits and accident frequency! Perhaps speed bumps would help alleviate the danger in his heavily congested area! Judith Pidgeon Location:91910, Chula Vista, Submitted At: 1:23pm 11-04-20 Setting a speed limit on Bonita Glen really does not solve the problem of safety in this congested area. There have been speed signs for years and no one pays attention to them. The fact that people do not pay attention to speed limit signs is a fact stated in the traffic information give by the City of Chula Vista to the public. Norma Cazares Location: Submitted At: 12:43pm 11-04-20 1 am neutral on this action due to mixed feelings about Bonita Glen Dr that leads into the County roads, Vista Dr. and Pepper Tree Rd. This City effort compliments the County's recent decision to drop the speed limit from 35 to 25 MPH on Vista Dr. Yes, reducing the speed is welcomed, however, this will not be sufficient once the the new 170-unit SilverGate apartment project on Bonita Glen Dr. is built. The increased traffic will further impact the substandard roads and create unsafe conditions for school children/pedestrians. I hope the City commits to revisiting the road changes, sooner than later, to include possible closure at the city/county line. Thank you. Michelle Hansen Location:91910, Chula Vista Submitted At: 11:47am 11-04-20 This is a great idea. People drive so fast on this road and it makes it unsafe for the residents who live there and for the pedestrians who walk there. A speed limit would be a phenomenal idea! Drivers barely stop at the 4 way stop sign at Hilltop and Pepper Tree. Juan Fox Location:91910, Chula Vista Submitted At: 10:19am 11-04-20 This is a good idea. This road is not safe as is, as it was not designed to handle the current traffic flow.
