INTRODUCTION OF CHULA VISTA CITY MANAGER MARIA KACHADOORIAN City Manager Maria Kachadoorian introduced herselfand thanked the commissioners for their service to the City of Chula Vista. 2. INTRODUCTION OF NEW COMMISSION MEMBERS ELIZABETH MURPHY, FREDA HERNANDEZ-NADER AND DR. ALLEN RODRIGUEZ The commission welcomed their new members. CONSENT CALENDAR 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM FEBRUARY 3, 2020 Staff recommendation: Commission review Attachment I and approve the minutes. Commissioner De Murguia moved to approve the minutes, Commissioner Quiroz seconded the motion and it carried by the following vote: Yes-6—Cruz, De Murguia, Hernandez -Nader, Martinez, Murphy, Quiroz Absent —1- Rodriguez PUBLIC COMMENTS None. ACTION ITEMS a. ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR FOR FISCAL YEAR 2020/2021 Staff recommendation: Commissioners nominate and elect the Chair and Vice Chair for the period of July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2021. The Commission moved to table this item for a future meeting due to three members being absent. 5. ANNUAL ACTIVITIES REPORT FOR FY19/20 Staff recommendation: Review Attachment 2 and accept the report. Commissioner De Margin motioned to approve the approve the Annual Activities Report for FY 19/20, Commissioner Cruz seconded the motion and it carried by the following vote: Yes — 6 - Cruz, De Murguia, Hernandez-Nader, Martinez, Murphy, Quiroz Absent -I- Rodriguez 6. COVID-19 COUNTY UPDATE Barbara Jimenez, Director of LiveWell HHSA Central & South Regions, will provide an overview of the current state of COVID-19 in San Diego County. Staff recommendation: Commission hear the presentation, The Commission thanked Ms. Jimenez for the presentation. 7. COVID-19 CITY RESPONSE Marlon King, City of Chula Vista Emergency Services Coordinator, will provide a summary of the City's response to COVID-19. Staff recommendation: Commission hear the presentation. The Commission thanked Mr. Kingfor his presentation. 8. PRESENTATION OF CLIMATE ACTION PLAN EQUITY INDEX PROJECT Cory Downs, City of Chula Vista Conservation Specialist, will provide an overview of a project to develop indices related to health, environment, housing and other equity factors that can affect how climate change impacts residents. Staff recommendation: Commission hear the presentation and provide feedback. PRESENTATION OF CONNECTING OLDER ADULTS WITH TECHNOLOGY (COAT) Aaron Ruiz, City of Chula Vista Recreation Supervisor, and Stacey Kurz, Healthy & Age - Friendly Chula Vista Initiative Coordinator, will provide a summary of current efforts to bridge technology barriers for older adults and a proposed project to provide Internet and technology devices to mobilehome residents within Chula Vista. Staff recommendation: Commission hear the presentation and provide feedback and direction to staff. The Commission suggested the following: • Working with the local Rotary Club OTHER BUSINESS 10. STAFF COMMENTS a. Healthy Cities and Counties Challenge • Ms. Kurz mentioned that UCSD has applied for a two year grant to provide fresh fruit and vegetables through North Gate Market to CAL Fresh recipients. • Ms. Kurz also mentioned that the city has been contacted by UCSD to assist in vaccine trials. 11.
