IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE EXECUTIVE ORDER, THE PUBLIC MAY VIEW THE MEETING ONLINE AND NOT IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS. The commenting period will be open shortly after the agenda is published for a particular meeting and will remain open through the meeting, as described below. All comments will be available to the public and the Veterans Advisory Commission using the eComment portal. Comments must be received prior to the time the Chair calls for the close of the commenting period. Comments received after such time will not be considered by the Veterans Advisory Commission. Approval of Meeting Minutes of May 19, 2021 Recommended Action: Commission approve the minutes. 4.2. Discussion Regarding Fiscal Year 2020-21 Annual Report of Activities and Authorize the Chair to Work with Staff to Finalize and Submit Recommended Action: Commission discuss activities and authorize the Chair to work with staff to finalize and submit. 4.3. Discussion of Additions to Veterans Resources List for Veterans Advisory Commission Webpage Recommended Action: Commission discuss additions to Veterans Resources list and direct staff as necessary. I declare under penalty of perjury that I am employed by the City of Chula Vista in the Police Department and that I caused the document to be posted RZcording to Brown Ac requirem''nt Dated: Ib I Signe V 1� 6/16/2021 VAC Agenda Page 3 of 3 ANNUAL ACTIVITY REPORT CITY OF CHULA VISTA BOARDS & COMMISSIONS FISCAL YEAR 2020-2021 Board/Commission: VETERANS AVISORY COMMISSION Highlights of Activities during the past fiscal year: • The VAC held five meetings between July 2020 and June 2021 • The Regular Meetings for the VAC were conducted via teleconference between July 2020 and June 2021 per Emergency Order 002-B-2020 • Election of Chair and Vice Chair for Fiscal Year 2020/2021. Commission Bill Sears was selected as Chair and Commissioner Patricia Larkin was selected as the new Vice Chair. • The Commission welcomed Captain Redmond as the new staff liaison and thanked Captain Thunberg for his service with the commission. • As of June 30th, 2021, no applications were received for Veteran of the Year. Deadline was extended to July 31, 2021. • Discussion on potentially moving the Regular meetings to American Legion Post 434, Chula Vista, in an effort to make the meetings more open to the public once COVID restrictions are lifted. • Chair Bill Sears has allowed his term to expire. • Captain Redmond confirmed the Fallen Heroes Banners were placed on Third Avenue in Chula Vista for Memorial Day.
