MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEET]/qG OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Tuesday March 9, 1965 A regular meeting was held in the Council Chambers by the City Council on the above date at 7:00 P.M. with the following Councilmen present: Councilmen McMains, McAllister, Sparling, McCorquodale, Anderson Absent: None Also present: City Engineer Cole, City Attorney Lindberg, Administrative Officer Ross, Director of Planning Warren, Assistant Adminis- trative Officer Stenberg Mayor Sparling led the pledge of allegiance to the Flag and asked for a moment of silent prayer. Statement: The City Clerk hereby states that he did post within twenty-four hours of adjournment, as provided by law, the order of adjourn- ment of the regular meeting of March 9, 1965. APPROVAL OF COUNCIL MINUTES It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman McCor- quodale, and carried that the Council minutes for the meetings of February 9, 16, 23 and March 2, be approved, copies having been sent to each Council- RESOLUTION NO. 3655 - Proclaiming the week of March 14, 1965 as DeMolay Week Offered by Councilman McCorquodale, passed and adopted by the follow- ing vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen McCorquodale, Anderson, McMains, McAllister, Sparling Noes: None Absent: None ORDINANCE NO. 925 - Establishing speed limits on portions of Otay Lakes Road and Allen School Lane - First reading Et was moved by Councilman McMains, seconded by Councilman McAllister, and carried that Ordinance No. 925 be placed on its first reading and that reading of the text be waived. The motion carried by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen McMains, McAllister, Sparling, McCorquodale, Anderson Noes: None Absent: None RESOLUTION NO. 3656 - Approving tentative map of Princess Manor Unit No. 8 Offered by Councilman Anderson, passed and adopted by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Anderson, McMains, McAllister, Sparling, McCorquodale Noes: None Absent: None RESOLUTION NO. 3657 - Accepting bid and awarding contract for landscaping on "g" Street extension Offered by Councilman Anderson, passed and adopted by the following votes to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Anderson, McMains, McAllister, Sparling, McCorquodale Noes: None Absent: None RESOLUTION NO. 3658 - Protesting sale of tax-deeded property by County and request for agreement to purchase Offered by Councilman McMains, passed and adopted by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen McMains, McAllister, Sparling, McCorquodale, Anderson Noes: None Absent: None ~'zREPORT FROM MAYOR'S REFUSE STUDY COMMITTEE Mr. Frank Whittington, Chairman of the Mayor's Refuse Study Committee, reviewed the Committee's written report which was submitted to the Council at an earlier date. It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Coun- cilman McMains, and carried that the report be accepted. ~UEST FOR REPORT FROM PORT COMMISSIONER Upon the suggestion of Councilman McMains, Administrative Officer Ross was directed to ask Port Commissioner Robert Campbell to be present at the next Council meeting and give a report on Port activities. ~.~.~COUNCIL CONFERENCES APPROVED Administrative Officer Ross stated that he has studied what other cities are doing in the way of Council conferences prior to Council meetings and is of the opinion they would be most beneficial if used in our own organ- ization. It was Mr. Ross~ recormnendation that the first such conference be held at 4:00 P.M. prior to the next Council meeting. It was moved by Coun- cilman McMains, seconded by Councilman Anderson, and carried that Council conferences be established, the first one to be held at 4:00 P.M. March 16. Councilman McCorquodale voted No. yTTERS OF APPRECIATION Letters were read from William Shea, Publisher~ and James S. Copley, Chairman of the Copley Newspaper Corporation, expressing appreciation to the Council for the resolutions expressing appreciation to them for their participation in the Operation Amigo program. ~/~PPRECIATION EXPRESSED FOR STREET LIGHT Mr. Charles Pattullo expressed appreciation for the street light in- stalled at the intersection of Cypress and Twin Oaks Avenues. ADJOURNMENT Mayor Sparling adjourned the meeting at 7:55 P.M. until March 16 at 7:00 P.M. City C~e~k /
