OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
Held Thursday May 13, 1965
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Chula
Vista was held at 9:08 A.M. on the above date with the following Councilmen
present: Councilmen McMains, McAllister, Anderson, McCorquodale, Sparling
Absent: None
Also present: Chief Administrative Officer Ross, Assistant Administrative
Officer Stenberg, Finance Officer Grant
BUDGET SESSION - 1965-66 Budget Review
The City Council continued its review of a proposed 1965-1966 budget and
minute action was taken in the following sequence:
(35) It was moved by Councilman McCorquodale, seconded by Councilman
Sparling, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for Building Maintenance (1-62) in the amount of $41,492.00.
(36) It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman Mc-
Corquodale, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as submitted by the Sister City Commission (1-65) in the amount of $2,980.00.
(37) It was moved by Councilman Sparling, seconded by Councilman McCor-
quodale, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for Miscellaneous Services (1-70) in the amount of $10,800.00.
(38) It was moved by Councilman McMains, seconded by Councilman McCor-
quodale, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for Central Stores and Purchasing (1-80) in the amount of $42,778.00.
(39) It was moved by Councilman McCorquodale, seconded by Councilman
McMains, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for the Park Department (12-80) in the amount of $109,112.00.
(40) It was moved by Councilman McCorquodale, seconded by Councilman
Sparling, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for the Recreation Department (12-81) in the amount of $127,751.00.
(41) It was moved by Councilman Sparling, seconded by Councilman McCor-
quodale, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for the Recreation Department (12-81.5) in the amount of $53,015.00.
(42) It was moved by Councilman McCorquodale, seconded by Councilman
Sparling, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for the Youth Center (12-81.6) in the amount of $6,533.00.
(43) It was moved by Councilman McCorquodale, seconded by Councilman
Sparling, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for the Parking Meter Fund (13-92) in the amount of $10,674.00.
(44) It was moved by Councilman McMains, seconded by Councilman McCor-
quodale, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for the Planning Department (14-82) in the amount of $56,547.00.
(45) It was moved by Councilman McCorquodale, seconded by Councilman
Sparling, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for the Library Department (15-90) in the amount of $159,357.00.
(46) It was moved by Councilman McMains, seconded by Councilman Mc-
Allister, and carried that the Council increase the amount previously budgeted
for the '~iss Chula Vista" contest in the proposed budget for Cormmuni~ty Promo-
tion (1-19) from $300.00 to $500.00. This adjustment will change the adopted
budget total from $28,875.00 to $29,075.00.
(47) It was moved by Councilman McCorquodale, seconded by Councilman
Sparling, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for the Retirement System (16-87) in the amount of $142,487o00.
(48) It was moved by Councilman Sparling, seconded by Councilman Mc-
Allister, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for the Gas Tax Fund (18-95) in the amount of $744,523.00.
(49) It was moved by Councilman Sparling, seconded by Councilman Mc-
Allister, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for the Sewer Service Revenue Fund (19-98) in the amount of $321,382.00.
(50) It was moved by Councilman McCorquodale, seconded by Councilman
McMains, and carried that the Council accept and approve the 1965-1966 budget
as proposed for Bond Interest and Redemption (35-1948, 36-1954, 37-1960) in the
amount of $131,160.00.
(51) It was moved by Councilman McCorquodale, seconded by Councilman
McMains, and carried that the sum of $1,500.00 be added to Printing and Adver-
tising Expense Account B-2.4 in the adopted budget for the Administrative Offi-
cer (1-12) to provide funds for a 1964-65 Annual City Report. This adjustment
will change the adopted budget total from $46,744.00 to $48,244.00.
(52) It was moved by Councilman McMains, seconded by Councilman McCor-
quodale, and carried that the Finance Officer be instructed to solicit bids
from the entire metropolitan San Diego area for all of the City's insurance
requirements° Councilman McAllister voted in the negative.
Mayor Anderson adjourned the meeting at 11:57 A.M. until Monday, May
17, 1965, at 9:00 A.M.
