MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
December 28, 1965
A regular meeting of the City Council was held in the Council Cham-
bers on the above date at 7:00 P.M. with the following Councilmen present:
Councilmen McMains, McAllister, Anderson, McCorquodale, Sparling
Absent: None
Also present: City Engineer Cole, City Attorney Lindberg, Assistant Adminis-
trative Officer Stenberg, Associate Planner Manganelli
Mayor Anderson led the pledge of allegiance to the Flag. Invocation was
given by Rev. John Woolheather of the Harbor Missionary Church.
APPROVAL OF COUNCIL MINUTES
It was moved by Councilman Sparling, seconded by Councilman McMains,
and carried that the minutes for the Council meeting of December 21, 1965,
be approved, copies having been sent to each Councilman.
POLICE MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE CERTIFICATES AWARDED
Mayor Anderson awarded certificates to Captain Virgil H. Seiveno and
Lieutenant Roy Botchers for having successfully completed the Police Manage-
ment Institute at the University of Southern California.

Annexation
Assistant Administrative Officer Stenberg having reported that the
petition requesting the annexation has still not been received from the new
owners of the property, it was moved by Councilman Sparling, seconded by
Councilman McCorquodale, and carried ~hat action on the matter be continued
one week.

and carried that documents pertaining to the original intention to
annex the Jaehn Annexation, a hearing for which had been scheduled for this
meeting, be filed.
RESOLUTION NO. 3942 - Declaring Princess Park Estates, Inc., in default on
improvements in Princess Manor Subdivision No. 3
Offered by Councilman Sparling, passed and adopted by the following
vote, to-wit:

RESOLUTION NO. 3943 - Urging the extension of the operating limits and rail
lines of the Santa Fe Railroad into the City of Chula

RESOLUTION NO. 3945 - Regulating and restricting parking on portion of "H"
Street
Offered by Councilman McAllister, passed and adopted by the following

Councilman Sparling suggested that this matter be brought back to the
Council within a reasonable time if the hours set up in this resolution do
not help to alleviate' the parking situation.

JANUARY 18, 1966 SET FOR HEARING ON COMMERCIAL-NEIGHBORHOOD ZONE
The Planning Cormnission having recommended the establishment of a C-N
(Con~aercial-Neighborhood) zone, it was moved by Councilman Sparling, seconded
by Councilman McCorquodale, and carried that January 18, at 7:00 P.M. be set
as the time for a public hearing on the matter.
COUNCIL CONFERENCE SET
Mayor Anderson set January 17, 1966 at the hour of 3:30 P.M. as the
time for a Council Conference to discuss the proposed Commercial-Neighborhood
zone ordinance.
JANUARY 18, 1966 SET AS TIME FOR HEARING ON APPEAL OF SHELBY AND MARIE CUR/tIE
It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman McCorquo-
dale, and carried that January 18, 1966 at 7:00 P.M. be set as the time for a
public hearing on the appeal of Shelby and Marie Currie to Planning Commission
action denying them a variance from the City Code to construct a 400-square-
foot carport on the side property line without setback for property located
at 302 LeMire Drive.
Councilman McCorquodale was of the opinion that some determination
should be made as to what houses at present have the garage closed in and the
ordinance requiring new garages be built in such cases be enforced from now

It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman Sparling,
and carried that a Council letter of condolence be forwarded to Administrative
Officer Ross on the passing away of His father.
i/CHECKING OF PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM REQUESTED
Councilman McCorquodale requested that the public address system be
checked inasmuch as it is not working right.
~//CHECK ON SEWER SERVICE CHARGE PAYMENTS REQUESTED
Mr. Paul Yeager asked if the owners of the houses built in Princess
Manor which are connected to the sewer but have no one living in them are
paying the sewer service charge. Councilman McMains suggested that Adminis-
trative Officer Ross check into this and find out if the water is turned on
in any of these empty houses and if sop if the sewer service charge is being
paid.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Anderson adjourned the meeting at 7:45 P.M. sine die.
