OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA
October 28, 2003 2:00 P.M.
An Emergency Meeting of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista was called to order
at 2:06 p.m. in the Council Conference Room, located in City Hall, 276 Fourth Avenue,
Chula Vista, California.
ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: Councilmembers Davis, McCann, Rindone, Salas, and Mayor
Padilla
ABSENT: Councilmembers: None
ALSO PRESENT: City Manager Rowlands, City Attorney Moore, City Clerk
Bigelow
ACTION ITEM
1. RESOLUTION NO. 2003-448, RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA RATIFYING THE PROCLAMATION OF
LOCAL EMERGENCY ISSUED BY THE CITY DIRECTOR OF
EMERGENCY SERVICES AND EXTENDING THE PROCLAMATION
UNTIL NOVEMBER 5, 2003, AT 12:00 A.M.
A majority of the City Council determined that an emergency situation existed due to the
vast local and regional fires and called an emergency meeting to consider adoption of the
above resolution. Telephonic notice and fax or electronic notification was provided to all
media outlets that had requested notice of any special meetings. This notice was
provided more than one hour prior to the meeting, and the agenda was posted for the
public more than one hour prior to the meeting.
Assistant Police Chief Zoll provided an update on the status of both local and regional
fires. Mayor Padilla thanked and congratulated staff on their excellent performance
during a very difficult situation; and he also thanked Councilmembers for their presence
in the central command center. Mayor Padilla asked that a report on the status of the fires
be docketed on the agenda for the November 4, 2003 meeting.
ACTION: Deputy Mayor Rindone offered Resolution No. 2003-448, heading read,
text waived. The motion carried 5-0.
ADJOURNMENT
At 2:19 p.m., Mayor Padilla adjourned the meeting to the Regular Meeting of November
4, 2003, at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, located in the Public Services Building,
276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista, California.
