THE PUBLIC MAY VIEW THE MEETING ONLINE AND NOT AT THE CIVIC CENTER BRANCH LIBRARY IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM. HOW TO WATCH: Members of the public can access a link to the live stream at www.chulavistaca.gov/virtualmeetings. HOW TO SUBMIT ECOMMENTS: Visit www.chulavistaca.gov/virtualmeetings and locate this meeting. Click on the eComment link and select the item you wish to comment on. Then, click on the orange “Leave comment” icon. The commenting period remains open throughout the meeting. All comments will be available to the public and the Board using the eComment portal. Comments must be received prior to the time the Chair calls for the close of the commenting period. Comments received after such time will not be considered by the Board of Library Trustees. Recommended Action: Board approve the Consent Calendar. 3.1.Approval of Meeting Minutes of April 21, 2021 4 Recommended Action: Board approve the minutes. 3.2.Written Communications 6 Communication from Trustee Moreno requesting an excused absence from the April 21, 2021 Board of Library Trustees meeting. Recommended Action: Board excuse the absence. 4.PUBLIC COMMENTS Persons may address the Board on any subject matter within the Board's jurisdiction that is not listed as an item on the agenda. State law generally prohibits the Board from discussing or taking action on any issue not included on the agenda, but, if appropriate, the Board may schedule the topic for future discussion or refer the matter to staff. 5.ACTION ITEMS The Item(s) listed in this section of the agenda will be considered individually by the Board and are expected to elicit discussion and deliberation. All votes were taken by roll call. CALL TO ORDER A Regular Meeting of the Board of Library Trustees of the City of Chula Vista was called to order at 4:03 p.m. in the Civic Center Library, located at 365 F Street, Chula Vista, California and by teleconference. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Trustee Bruder, Trustee Swanson, Vice-Chair Rubel, and Chair Ellison ABSENT: Trustee Moreno ALSO PRESENT: City Librarian Whatley, Principal Librarian Magbanua, Principal Librarian Sannwald, Facilities Finance Manager Elliott, and Board Secretary Cheung CONSENT CALENDAR Chair Ellison called for a two-minute pause to allow members of the public to submit any final electronic comments on items on the consent calendar. Board Secretary Cheung announced that no electronic comments had been received and no comments had been received via email. 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES of March 17, 2021 Staff recommendation: Board approve the minutes 2. PRESENTATION OF REVISED LIBRARY MASTER FEE SCHEDULE City Librarian Whatley informed the Board that staff will be proposing elimination of book fines to City Council at the May 18, 2021 meeting. OTHER BUSINESS 5. STAFF COMMENTS a) City Librarian Whatley announced that Civic Center Branch Library will be reopening soon. 6. CHAIR’S COMMENTS - None 7.
