I have owned and operated H St. ARCO AMP for many years in Chula Vista. I have many other businesses indifferent areas throughout San Diego County but the Arco in Chula Vista is what I am most concerned about right now. Since the Automated License Plate Recognition Program is in question of being cancelled, I have to really consider the safety of my employees and my business. Without the extra measures in place, I am unsure of how safe the area might be. Reason being, if you have ever been to the Chula Vista area on H Street then you would know how busy it can get throughout the day especially for my gas station being by the trolley station. I am sure I speak for many when I say that removing such program would increase the possibility of criminal activity and ensue fear and rage within the community. I question whether or not that is in the best interest of the city. As a family man and business owner, my priority is the wellbeing of those close to me. That is why I am in support of the ALPR program because I believe that CVPD should have the equipment needed to continue protecting the City of Chula Vista effectively. I am asking the City Council to support the ALPR program.
