Subject: Automated License Plate Readers
I favor the use of Automated License Plate Readers. The streets are public, and if you are
going to use the public streets, then the government (police) have the right to know about
your use. In this case, as I understand it, the information they get is about one’s locality and
time thereof. The law-biding driver is no worse off, and society is better off in its job of protecting us.
The Chula Vista Police Department is using a lot of new technology and Automated License Plate
Readers is simply a way to help them protect us and enforcing the laws. But it, itself, does not lead to
any tickers or anything, like for speeding, so it is simply a locality record.
