Subject: Public comment- SHORT TERM RENTALS
PUBLIC COMMENT-
I did Airbnb for a very short time. I liked it, but I felt it would be better to rent both my house
and my garage. I decided that I needed to perhaps turn my garage into a small place to rent
through Airbnb because it is difficult to share space because of COVID -19. I am a single mother, with a
15 year-old son, and I am looking for ways to be able to afford his college, and be able to retire in Chula
Vista. So, I took out a loan and figure I could pay myself back by renting Airbnb. Because I will rent my
home, and the garage (future apartment) during the summer, I will be able to pay for college
semester. am not sure why the city wants to limit the amount of time, and then put rules to limit those
that decided we would invest in doing Aribnb. It is a lot of work to do Airbnb... I have to make sure all is
clean, constantly clean, make sure I have just the right amount of clean sheets, and clean towels,
etc. Please don't try to regulate Airbnb. It is more money for the city of Chula Vista, and it is the only way
some of us are going to be able to afford to live in California.
I think it should be a case by case basis. If too many complaints on an Airbnb, THEN you take that
person's rights to rent... do not punish all, for some that might not do a good job.
