RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA ACCEPTING $166,711 FROM THE UNITED
STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE BUREAU OF JUSTICE
ASSISTANCE AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS TO THE
FISCAL YEAR 2019/20 POLICE GRANTS SECTION OF THE
FEDERAL GRANTS FUND FOR THE CORONAVIRUS
EMERGENCY SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING PROGRAM
WHEREAS, in May 2020, Chula Vista Police Department submitted a grant application to
the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance for the Coronavirus Emergency
Supplemental Funding Program; and
WHEREAS, funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance are
made available to help offset the impact of the coronavirus pandemic; and
WHEREAS, on May 27, 2020, the U.S. Department of Justice awarded $166,711 to the
City for Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program; and
WHEREAS, grants funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice
Assistance will be used to offset personnel overtime costs, public service messaging video
production, software licenses for continuing operations, and personal protective equipment and
sanitation supplies used in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista,
that it accepts $166,711 from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance for the
Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program and appropriates $131,461 to personnel
services, and $35,250 to supplies and services category of the Fiscal Year 2019/20 Police Grants
Section of the Federal Grants Fund.
