ROLL CALL
Councilmen present: Mayor Hyde, Councilmen Scott, Gillow, Cox
Councilmen absent: Councilwoman McCandliss
Staff present: City Manager Cole, City Attorney Lindberg
1. CONTINUED CONSIDERATION OF GROWTH MANAGEMENT PLAN POLICY.
City Manager Cole suggested this item be continued to the next meeting
when a full Council would be present.
MSUC (Hyde/Cox) to continue this item to the meeting of September 1,1981.
2. REPORT ON REQUEST BY ARROW TRANSIT TO OPERATE A HOME-TO-WORK JITNEY
SERVICE IN CHULA VISTA
In his report to Council, City Manager Cole explained that the request
was for a two-month temporary operating permit in order to permit the
operation of a jitney service between South Bay and North Island in
Coronado. Arrow Transit has applied to the PUC for approval to operate
as a passenger stage company providing home-to-work service in several
areas of San Diego County. This approval is expected by November 1.
Mr. Cole added that the Police Department accepts the City of San
Diego's Paratransit Division's inspection for taxicabs and have stated
that it would also be satisfactory for this jitney operation. The
recommendation is for approval of the jitney service with two pickup/drop
points in the City of Chula Vista for the period of September 1 through
November 15, 1981.
In answer to the Council's query, the applicant indicated that he would
work with the owners of the shopping center at Telegraph Canyon Road
to allow for the pickups in that area.
MSUC (Scott/Gillow) approval of the request in accordance with staff's
recommendation.
3. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT. City Manager Cole submitted the schedule of
Council meetings and conferences for the next two months and the itinerary
for the Council tour on Saturday, August 29. It was the concurrence of
the Council to accept the schedule of meetings but to change the time
of the Council tour from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
4. MAYOR'S REPORT. Mayor Hyde announced the appointment of Mayor Pa% Calla-
han of Coronado as the ~a_n~.'~iegO.r~sentative on the Coastal Commission.
Mayor Hyde also commented on the meeting he attended with Mr. Betts and
Mr. Zogob regarding Mr. Betts' interest in locating a fish market/
restaurant on ~ir~..~A~e~.
5. COUNCIL COMMENTS. Councilman Gillow reminded the Council of the Awards
Banquet to be held on October 1 and their nominations for the Recognition
Awards.
ADJOURNMENT at 4:20 p.m. to the Council tour scheduled for Saturday,
August 29, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. and to the regular scheduled meeting of
Tuesday, September 1, 1981 at 7:00 p.m.
