HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2020-027RESOLUTION NO. 2020-027 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AUTHORIZING STAFF TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A TRANSFORMATIVE CLIMATE COMMUNITIES PLANNING GRANT AND TO IMPLEMENT PROJECTS FUNDED BY THE GRANT WHEREAS, the Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) Program is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide program that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing Green House Gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment – particularly in disadvantaged communities; and WHEREAS, the Transformative Climate Communities Program funds the implementation of neighborhood-level proposals with multiple, integrated projects; and WHEREAS, the Transformative Climate Communities Program empowers communities to choose their own strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving community benefits; and WHEREAS, the Transformative Climate Communities Program prioritizes California’s most disadvantaged communities – neighborhoods ranked in the top 10 percent (10%) of CalEnviroScreen; and WHEREAS, TCC grant application procedures require, among other things, an applicant’s governing authorization to apply for and accept the TCC Planning Grant if selected for an award, and authority to execute all related documents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, that it authorizes staff to apply for and accept a TCC Planning Grant if selected for an award, and authority to execute all related documents; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista that the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Chula Vista all grant documents, including but not limited to, applications, agreements, amendments, and requests for payment, necessary to secure and accept grant funds and implement the approved TCC Planning Grant.
