HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2020-045RESOLUTION NO. 2020-045 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE "RETIMING OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND INSTALLATION OF FIBER OPTIC/ETHERNET COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (TRF0404)" PROJECT TO DBX, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $740,688; AND MAKING VARIOUS AMENDMENTS TO THE FISCAL YEAR 2019/20 CIP PROGRAM BUDGETS TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS THEREFOR WHEREAS, Chapter 2.56 of the Chula Vista Municipal Code authorizes the City to contract for Public Works; and WHEREAS, on November 22, 2019, the Department of Engineering and Capital Projects solicited bids for the “Retiming of Traffic Signals and Installation of Fiber Optic/Ethernet Communication System (TRF0404)” project in accordance with Chula Vista Municipal Code section 2.56.160.A; and WHEREAS, on January 8, 2020, the Director of Engineering and Capital Projects received two (2) sealed bids for the “Retiming of Traffic Signals and Installation of Fiber Optic/Ethernet Communication System (TRF0404)” project; and WHEREAS, the apparent low bid for the project was submitted by DBX, Inc. in the amount of $740,688, which is below the Engineer’s estimate of $822,370 by $81,682 (approximately 9.9% below the Engineer’s estimate); and WHEREAS, staff has determined that the bid submitted by DBX, Inc. is responsive in all material respects to the bid specifications/requirements, and that DBX, Inc. is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder; and WHEREAS, staff recommends awarding the contract to DBX, Inc. in the amount of $740,688; and WHEREAS, staff recommends making various amendments to the Fiscal Year 2019/20 CIP program budgets to appropriate funds therefor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista that it awards the contract for the “Retiming of Traffic Signals and Installation of Fiber Optic/Ethernet Communication System (TRF0404)” project to DBX, Inc. in the amount of $740,688.
