A RESOLUTION Ob' 5'tie t_'lTY COUNCIL OF THE
CITy OF CklULA VISTA URGING THE SAN DIEGO
UNIFIED PORT DISTRICT TO SUPPORT LEGISLATION
WHICH WOULD TRANSFER TITLE OF TtiE IMPERIAL BEACH
OCEAN TIDELANDS TO THE SAN DIEGO UNIFIED PORT
DISTRICT FOR PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS~ the City of Imperial Beach has been a charter member of
tile San Dieso Unified Port District since its inception in 1962; and,
WHEREAS, the citizens of the City .al Imperial Beach paid taxes to
support the San Diego Unilied Port District between the years of 1962
through 1969; and~
WHEREAS, the City ol hnperial ,3eac'~ has not derived any
substantial benefits from Port District membership due to the lack ol
Imperial Beach Tidelands within San Diego Bay; and,
WHEREAS~ the City of Imperial Beach desires to participate more
fully in the San Diego Unified Port District's goals of "Promotion of
Commerce, Navigation, Fisheries~ and Recreation" to the largest number of
individuals within the region and visitors; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Imperial Beach holds title to a Trust Irom the
State oI Calitornia lot approximately three linear miles of beach, and
submerged lands which could be developed by the San Diego Unified Port
District to provide recreational and COmmercial lacilities in such a way as
to be linancial benelicial to the Port District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Chuia Vista that the San Diego Uniiied Port District is urged to
support legislation which would transler the Trust which lies west of the
mean high tideland line from the City of Imperial Beach to the San Diego
Unified Port District for future project development.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City o~ Chula
Vista at a special meeting of the City Council held on August 19 I986, by
the following rot% to wit: '
