RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA APPROVING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA AND A. L. HANSON ROOFING FOR REROOFING OF PARKWAY
GYM IN THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA
AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Chula Vista that that certain agreement between THE
CITY OF CHULA VISTA, a municipal corporation, and A. L. HANSON
ROOFING, for reroofing of Parkway Gymnasium
dated the ]2th day of August , 1986, a copy of which is
attached hereto and incorporated herein, the same as though fully
set forth herein be, and the same is hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of
Chula Vista be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to
execute said agreement for and on behalf of the City of Chula
Vista.

AGREEMENT FOR REROOFING OF PARKWAY GYMNASIUM
,-'~THIS AGREEMENT is entered into this ~ day
of ~,~,~,~ , 1986 by and between THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA
(her~iq~t~r City") and A.L. HANSON ROOFING, 85 Oxford Street,
Chula Vista, California 92011 (hereinafter "Contractor").
The parties hereto agree as follows:
1. Contractor shall perform the services described in
attached Exhibit "A". Said services are for the demolition and
reroofing of the Parkway Gymnasium located 383 Parkway, Chula
Vista, California.
2. City shall pay Contractor ~18,500 thirty (30) days
after acceptance of the work by the City and receipt by the City
of a demand for payment.
3. Work on the roof shall commence withfn fifteen (15)
days of the execution of this agreement. The work sha~l be
completed within twenty-five (25) working days. The parties
hereto agree that time is of the essence in all matters relating
to this contract.
4. Contractor is not an employee of the City of Chula
Vista. Contractor warrants that it has all the necessary
licenses and insurance, including workmen's compensation, to
comply with California law.
5. Contractor guarantees all materials and labor for a
period of two (2) years after payment by City.
6. Contractor agrees to indemnify and hold the City and
its employees harmless from any and all suits or causes of action
which may arise from Contractor's performance of this agreement.
Contractor agrees to name the City as additional insured on any
insurance policies which it may have and provide a copy of said
policies to the City.
8. The parties agree that the failure to perform this
contract as specified by its terms will damage the City in an
amount which cannot be reasonably determined. The parties agree
that failure to complete the work specified by this contract
within the time period specified in Paragraph No. 3, will result

in damages being assessed against Contractor of ~100 per working
day. City may withhold said liquidated damages from its payment
to Contractor.

EXHIBIT "A"
PARKWAY GYMNASIUM REROOFING SPECIFICATIONS
Reroofin§ project complete per the following:
1. Cut out blisters and seal down with hot asphalt.
2. Remove solar panels so roofing can be installed.
3. Sweep roof clean of all debris.
4. Install new metal gravel guard as necessary.
5. Apply two layers of 15# felt and a fiberglass mineral surface roll roofing
with hot asphalt.
6. Set all vents in black plastic cement on final layer of roofing. The
flanges shall be set solidly in black plastic cement and sealed with a
4-inch strip of reinforcing fabric marked solid.
7. Reinstall solar panels on new pressure treated runners. Seal roof anchors
where they penetrate the roofing to prevent leaks. Install new rubber
connectors and metal clamps as needed.
8. Asphalt shall be applied to an average temperature of 370° to 425°F and
shall not be heated to a temperature above 450°F. Asphalt shall be evenly
applied between layers. Felt shall be laid without wrinkles or buckles.
Adequate overlap of the paper shall be made.
9. Work shall comply with Chapter 32 of the Uniform Building Code, 1982
Edition as adopted by the City of Chula Vista.
10. Contractor shall not be responsible for solar panels that are in a
corroded condition.
