1 . The problem of parking . The need for free or reduced
fees for Seniors. NPSC is the only Recreation Center in the
city with No Free Parking.
2. The need for a double sided sign in front of building.
Ours has been gone for 2 years and 2 months. All we have
had is promises....how patient are we expected to be?
3. The need for a full-time Recreation Supervisor.
For most of the years 1996-2009 we had two full-time
Supervisors. Presently, Aaron Ruiz is our part-time
Supervisor working 20 hours weekly. NPSC is open 55
hours weekly with weekend rentals necessitating a full time
Supervisor being available.

Paul Crawford- Commission on Aging Chair
Salutations! My name is Paul Crawford, the Chair of Chula Vista's Commission on Aging, and I'm really ex-
cited to have my own segment in the Norman Park Senior Center's Quarterly Newsletters. Henceforth, I
will share what the Commission on Aging is doing for our seniors in the City, so you may remain informed
on what goes on at our meetings.
On September 12th, 2019, the Commission on Aging had a joint meeting with the Healthy Chula Vista Advi-
sory Commission at Sienna at Otay Ranch, a senior community in East Chula Vista. The Commissions saw
presentations highlighting projects pertinent to healthy senior living, including the County of San Diego's
Age-Friendly Action Plan Update; Circulate San Diego's Safe Routes for Seniors; the City's Active Transpor-
tation Plan Update & Bikeway Projects; and the City's Digital Equity Plan. For more updates on projects/
programs, I highly encourage the public to attend our Commission on Aging meetings, which take place at
the Norman Park Senior Center (unless otherwise noted) on the second Wednesday of every other month
(each odd month) at 1:00pm.
Lastly, I have two special announcements for the community. Circulate San Diego is looking for community
members to participate in their focus groups. Their Safe Routes for Seniors project requires input from the
community. Your input will allow them to collect data on the best way to address West Chula Vista's trans-
portation needs. For information on how to participate in a focus group, please speak with Aaron Ruiz. Sec-
ond, I am in the process of establishing office hours at the Norman Park Senior Center. My goal is to really
get to know everyone and be an outlet for questions, comments, and concerns you have. If you'd like my
contact information (email or cell phone number), please ask staff.
