SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF THE COMMISSION ON AGING AND HEALTHY CHULA VISTA ADVISORY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA Thursday, February 7, 2019 Community Through Hope 3:30 p.m. 465 C Street Chula Vista 91910 CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL COMMISSION ON AGING (COA): Commissioners Allan, Carroll, Mallen, Vice Chair Crawford and Chair Johnson ROLL CALL HEALTHY CHULA VISTA ADVISORY COMMISSION (HCVAC): Commissioners Cruz, de Murguia, Jimenez, Martinez, Melgoza, Milburn, Partida-Lopez, Velo, Vice Chair Milburn and Chair Quiro The Commission on Aging and Healthy Chula Vista Advisory Commission serve as the Age-Friendly Communities Joint Task Force and oversee the implementation of the Age-Friendly Chula Vista Action Plan. CONSENT CALENDAR The Board/Commission will enact the Consent Calendar staff recommendations by one motion, without discussion, unless a Board/Commission Member, a member of the public, or staff requests that an item be removed for discussion. If you wish to speak on one of these items, please fill out a “Request to Speak” form and submit it to the Secretary prior to the meeting. Items pulled from the Consent Calendar will be discussed immediately following the Consent Calendar. 1. COA APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM January 9, 2019 COA RECOMMENDED ACTION: Review Attachment 1 and approve minutes. 2. HCVAC APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM December 13, 2018 HCVAC RECOMMENDED ACTION: Review Attachment 2 and approve minutes. PUBLIC COMMENTS Persons speaking during Public Comments may address the Board/Commission on any subject matter within the Board/Commission’s jurisdiction that is not listed as an item on the agenda. State law generally prohibits City of Chula Vista Boards & Commissions Commission on Aging and Healthy Chula Vista Advisory Commission Page 2 HCVAC Agenda February 7, 2019 the Board/Commission from discussing or taking action on any issue not included on the agenda, but, if appropriate, the Board/Commission may schedule the topic for future discussion or refer the matter to staff. Comments are limited to three minutes. ACTION ITEMS The Item(s) listed in this section of the agenda will be considered individually by the Board/Commission and are expected to elicit discussion and deliberation. If you wish to speak on any item , please fill out a “Request to Speak” form and submit it to the Secretary prior to the meeting. 3. COMMUNITY THROUGH HOPE Community Through Hope staff will provide an overview of the organization mission and services provided. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Commissions hear the presentation. 4. CHULA VISTA MOBILITY HUB San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) staff will provide a presentation on a Caltrans grant project to develop an operational plan for a Mobility HUB in Western Chula Vista. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Commissions hear the presentation. 5. AARP COMMUNITY CHALLENGE GRANT Healthy Chula Vista staff will provide an overview of the grant project that funded three field trips for older adults utilizing transit. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Commissions hear the presentation. 6. SENIOR EXPO - MARCH 19, 2019 The Commission on Aging and Recreation staff will provide details on a health and information expo being planned for March 19th at Montevalle Recreation Center. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Commissions hear the presentation and provide feedback. 7. AGE-FRIENDLY CHULA VISTA WORK PLAN FOR 2019-2020 Commissions will share their goals for 2019 and engage with staff in discussion regarding accomplishments in the implementation of the Age-Friendly Action Plan and set a work plan for the Joint Task Force for the calendar year 2019. POST- ADJOURNMENT there will be an optional tour of Community Through Hope. Materials provided to the Commission on Aging related to any open-session item on this agenda are available for public review in the Recreation Department, Chula Vista during normal business hours. Materials provided to the Healthy Chula Vista Advisory Commission related to any open-session item on this agenda are available for public review in the Development Services Department, Chula Vista during normal business hours.
